I used Banner previously and I think PeopleSoft Campus Solutions was so much more user friendly. I also found the reporting to be easier to access with CS. CS works well when paired with FMS and HCM. You can pretty much go full oracle and also implements database systems for …
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions has been the software of choice between Jenzebar and Campus vue as the user interface is easier, students seem to understand their progress and the system better than the other two softwares I have used. I would recommend this as all things student …
I used Jenzabar at a smaller institution, and primarily focused on the LMS aspect, and not the SIS - but it seemed to have less features, but generally be easier to use. I'd highly recommend Jenzabar for institutions that don't already have a significant Oracle footprint.
We looked at other systems that operated similarly to Peoplesoft but we thought PS as the best for us at that time. Compared to its other competitors it is more robust and customizable which was a big factor for us. Almost everything in PS can be customized to meet the specific …
I haven't used another competitor. In talking with others that use Banner and other tools, I think PeopleSoft is more designed for the enterprise and supports the scale we operate at.
PeopleSoft Campus Solutions is probably the best out of the 3 options indicated above. I think the ease of implementation, the training modules, and clear concise material that both makes sense and is retainable is a huge advantage. Although it may fall short in other areas, …
I have not used similar products and I am new to this role. Salesforce has been very easy to learn and I appreciate the support and ability to access the platform when I need to. I was able to easily learn the program and become skilled in what I needed to do. It also made the …
Salesforce.org Education Cloud has many different functionalities that do not revolve around just the assignment and grading aspect of a student's education. They provide ways for staff to communicate with students in real-time and provide additional support, such as mental …
It has a better UX and UI than Moodle and it also has a more professional approach in terms of business educational programs than Google Classroom. For us, it has been really important the ability to analyze the courses at a high level and also being able to let the students …
Ultimately Canvas was much more focused on the learning environment and not the management of the database to utilize for sales and marketing. Once we realized the differences in the product, features and cost side we decided to roll with SFDC as a much more optimal solution …
Salesforce for Higher Education is the best option out there for managing student accounts. Other programs used are in the dark ages comparatively and this is a great way to engage in a more modern way.
Salesforce Classic and Salesforce Lightning: I have not developed or directly managed any version of Salesforce, but I train on it, use it my role, and need to troubleshoot while using it.
Salesforce for Higher Ed is great against other CRMs that are just charging on a flat rate. This means you only pay for who uses the product which can be much cheaper. Salesforce is the industry standard for CRM's so you have that going for you and you can easily reach out to …
Campus Solutions is a solid product. It is used successfully by large and small institutions across the world. A fair amount of customization should be expected, as the delivered functions just aren't flexible enough for specific needs sometimes. If an institution has the developer bandwidth to support some customization, then this is a great product. It offers a seemingly never ending supply of efficient functions, such as Activity Guides, which allow the institution to assign desired tasks to end users, such as updating their emergency contact information. Students could be assigned a registration hold until they have completed their tasks.
Groups that need to integrate their CRM with other partners: many education institutions use Salesforce!
Groups with huge student populations now, or expected in the future.
Groups that have resources for custom Salesforce development, like an in-house Salesforce Developer role.
Less appropriate:
If you expect your company/school will have a limited number of students.
If you set up Salesforce to use ONLY Leads or only Contacts, not both. What happens if you have a student re-enroll? How do you handle losing data when converting a Lead to a Contact? If you don't have good answers for these in advance, you'll want to use only Leads or only Contacts to track each student.
When you open a service request you will get contacted in short order. They will usually develop a patch or hot fix in a reasonable amount of time. You do usually need to keep the software updated and will want to be on the latest versions.
People will respond on time even though Salesforce is such a large organization. This also includes various methods of getting support beyond just calling - they have dedicated reps, chat, chatter, etc that all make the experience more pleasant.
I used Banner previously and I think PeopleSoft Campus Solutions was so much more user friendly. I also found the reporting to be easier to access with CS. CS works well when paired with FMS and HCM. You can pretty much go full oracle and also implements database systems for data warehousing and even more detailed analysis. Due to the size of Oracle and PeopleSoft the amount of third party support also seems higher. I had also used Hobsons products before but find CS to be more robust than their offerings as well.
Salesforce.org Education Cloud has many different functionalities that do not revolve around just the assignment and grading aspect of a student's education. They provide ways for staff to communicate with students in real-time and provide additional support, such as mental health resources, which is incredibly important. Not only is the education aspect important, but providing resources to help a student in every aspect of life is possible on Salesforce and is very useful.
Retrieving information has been faster for us since we implemented Peoplesoft, this has enabled us to better serve our students and provide them with support and answer their questions in a timely fashion.
Because of PS Campus Solutions, we have a central location to house student information making it easy to access info rather than having the information stored in multiple places all over the campus by different groups. This has tremendously improved our processes and made it very easy for us.
Since Peoplesoft securely stores our data, we do not have issues with data security or questions from parents or students about fears of student information being leaked or falling into the wrong hands. This has helped us remain compliant and comply with FERPA regulations.
