RMail vs. Webroot Email Security Powered by Zix

RMail is perfect if you are looking for HIPAA complaint way to send patient information securely. The tracking of each message is required by HIPAA, and it is also supplied by RMail. Also, you can submit an email for electronic signature, which saves a ton of time waiting for snail-mail. Our clients tend to love RMail, because they're usually changing from something else that ends up generating a lot of calls from people who can't open their emails - RMail solves this by utilizing the TLS technology

I have already recommended Zix to a number of our coworkers in the home healthcare industry, and a number of those coworkers also use Zix, which makes it quite simple to connect with one another. Because it pertains to health care, which is an industry in which it is vital to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity, we also utilize it within our own organization to communicate with one another.

• You have to cover THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION with coverage, even though only a handful will need to use email encryption
• The Zix Protect platform is a complete joke to customize and use.

I don't think RPost has any competition, at least none that I can use. I think that once registered email becomes widely accepted (someday soon?), it will be indispensable for anyone in business, and RPost is the leading vendor (maybe the only vendor).

It did delivers exactly what is needed, what was promised, is cost effective, and is incredibly easy to use and manage.

It is as simple as downloading a plug-in or installing a chrome extension, then you click a button to use it. The interface is straightforward.

It is much simpler to configure and operate in comparison to other anti-spam applications. Zix's customer usage is comparable to that of other spam filters on the market; but, in terms of convenience of use, Zix comes out on top. Daily delivery of logs is provided, and the user is not required to sign in order for an email to be sent.

Support is easy to access via email or phone. They also reach out to you periodically with new features, but they aren't intrusive about it. I usually appreciate it when I get an email from RMail, which is not very often.

Zix is very good about response times and information. They even proactively e-mail us about known issues. I have never had an issue go unresolved, and the support team tends to answer quickly unless it's a strange, complicated request. The only time that happened was doing a search through logs, and that was entirely on me and my unfamiliarity with their flavor of Linux.

RMail has an add-on module for e-signing documents, but Adobe Sign's is just easier to use. However, if I need to combine sending an e-mail that has to be tracked along with an e-signed document, then RMail clearly wins out over using Adobe Sign. The latter is designed to track electronic signatures only, not to track when e-mails are received.

Proofpoint is a major player in this space, and I believe their product is overall superior to Webroot Email Security. However, the price is much higher for products like Proofpoint, which has made it difficult to fit that into our budget. We really like using the outbound email encryption feature of Zix, and I think that has some serious competitive advantages over something like Proofpoint, and so it is nice to have that all in one platform.

• There's not much ROI, because we don't get it much cheaper than the list price.
• However, being able to offer this service strengthens our service offerings.

• Users have improved at identifying spam.
• Fewer false positives are coming through.
• It has identified a lot of security holes from vendors (e.g. most vendors using outdated extensions that we are now able to block, creating a discussion with our users).
