uburVu (for a time known as Hootsuite Insights) analyzed big social data, combining monitoring capabilities, data analysis and reporting features to show insights like influencers, stories, and trends. It was acquired by Hootsuite in 2014, and has since been discontinued.

Radian6 and Brandwatch were on the short list. We picked uberVU for its combination of price and features. It did not have extra features we didn't need, they were customizable and flexible enough to meet all of our needs.
We selected Viralheat for a number of reasons but the biggest factors were because it had the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership) for the features available and the fact that we only had to purchase one tool. During the selection process we demoed with a handful of other SMM …

Chose Viralheat (Discontinued)
ViralHeat surpasses the Hootsuite software in every way.
Acquisio is significantly more expensive than Viralheat and we did not find the features to be very different. In fact, we did not find Acquisio providing the same level of functionality around sentiment. The area where Acquisio was stronger was on paid digital advertising.
Viralheat is a great tool, they are continuing to improve and integrate with new tools, which is something I did not see with previous softwares.

Chose Viralheat (Discontinued)
We looked at tools that offer monitoring across social platforms. Viralheat eventually won our bid because of the simple user experience as well as their unlimited mentions offer.
We selected Viralheat because it offered the features we were looking for in a format that was easy for our marketing and product teams to use together.
Viralheat had the most comprehensive monitoring tool from what we saw. We liked the fact that they do not limit the number of mentions that come in through the topic profiles. Also, the UI/UX was much easier to work with.
We chose Viralheat because it allowed us to do multiple things from one tool. We were able to monitor our brand mentions after each video, song, or album release - this provided us with valuable feedback abouout our brand and music. We were also able to connect our accounts and …
I like Viralheat better than Sprout Social and Hootsuite because it shows pictures that accompany your posts! Moreover, I like how the representatives are all very responsive when you have difficulties using Viralheat!
I liked uberVU a lot, and thought I was lucky to have found them (they actually responded to my tweet when I was vendor-searching, which was good to know as they were doing just what we were planning to use the software for). They are relatively small, which allows to have a great personal relationship and we felt very valued as a client. They provided great value - some of their competitors allow for more features (which explains their higher price), but there was no way to opt out of the unnecessary features to lower the price - uberVU didn't have any of that, it was just what we needed and in our price range
Viralheat is great for those who have to report back with hard numbers or proof backing a specific campaign or initiative. If this is important to you, make sure you ask to see examples for the monitoring and reporting features. Also, the amount of monitoring you do will impact your quote, so have that information in mind.
Simplicity: The software is very easy to use and took very little time to start optimizing my social media campaigns.
Set up time: I was up and running in no time. With social media you cannot wait days or weeks to get started. By having a quick start up process, it allowed me to get started ASAP.
Reporting: The foundation of all business decisions has been a very tedious process in the past. By using Viralheat, I save time on reporting and have better reports to give more actionable insights.
Data: Not only is the reporting awesome, there are many more insights you can get by using the large amount of demographic data that is in the software.
Some trouble that we ran into with Viralheat was with the daylight savings time change. All the posts that we previously scheduled out before the daylight savings ended up coming out late an hour. I thought Viralheat should have fixed this on their end and should have reached out to their clients about the time change and to tell us if we needed to change anything on our end.
I also want to see Pinterest and Instagram soon on Viralheat. I know this component is not entirely up to Viralheat, but seeing that Pinterest and Instagram are a big part of the social media game, I think scheduling out posts for both these platforms would benefit alot of community managers.
I find it a great tool in the digital strategy world to see what people are saying across social platforms. It's much more efficient that doing a search on the platform itself and provides a lot of information extremely quickly
There are no other tools out there that offer an equivalent level of functionality for the cost. We continue to monitor the space to see if we can find a tool that includes paid digital marketing analytics, but all tools that include this functionality are 3-5x the cost. Viralheat continues to be the best value.
I found it really easy to use and I use it on a daily basis and can easily find my way around. It has the usability of a consumer application for an Enterprise product that does very complex things in a very elegant manner.
The customer success team clearly cares about how well we do. They are quick to get back to us and they always offer to jump on a screen share so we can understand and learn new features.
