Great resource management

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used it to see and plan employee utilization across projects for up to 20 employees at once, including freelancers. I authorized the purchase for our head manager, and also accessed views myself on occasion. Primarily the advantage for me as an exec was that through this software I can get that high-level glance of projects and resources and understand overall what the availability and use is across all our personnel. If I wanted to view invoicing specifics through it, I could, though I don't use it for that very often. I hear great things from my team regarding its benefits for them in terms of integrating their own calendars and planning within it.

Pros

  • Clear views
  • Employees said it was easy to use
  • They liked that it reflects changes immediately (or nearly immediately)

Cons

  • There are complaints about lag with the latest update
  • The hover functionality is a bit clunky
  • Not very complex in terms of how it inputs other data (Spreadsheets, etc.)

Likelihood to Recommend

I think this program is pretty great for resource management but wish it included better project management. The ability to add tasks to projects would be really helpful. The expense features have not been usable at our company because they are not robust enough, and the reporting features get similar feedback.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to track and organize projects, resources and team member Hours

Pros

  • Gant chart views of time allocation
  • project description
  • resource utilization

Cons

  • filters to show what info you want in a clean and easy way
  • auto report generations seem clunky
  • maximizing view of data, there are limits on what you can see in a single screen

Likelihood to Recommend

When you want to record projects and assign tasks to team members, it's great. When you want to assign quick tasks, that take less than a week to complete, its burdensome.

The visibility it brought to the company leaders was unprecedented

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

10000ft is being used by the whole organization. It is of course mainly used by the operations team and the information inside the tool is totally related to the operations team. But the platform is used by all leaders from all departments of the organization, and all mid-management in operations.
The main business problems it helps us solve is the capacity planning of our resources and the visibility of the operational forecast it helps us bring to all leaders of the company.

Pros

  • Capacity planning/resource planning.
  • Operational forecast and bring it up in a very visual manner.

Cons

  • The only problem I have with 10000ft is that the design/UI has started to feel a little outdated.
  • I would like to have pre-done integrations with other platforms.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you run any type of operation where you have to manage multiple resources and you need to move those resources from within projects or clients, this is a super useful tool. You can forecast work and allocations. It gives you a clear, very visual illustration of how your resources are going to be utilized.
It is a great tool, not only for the operations department, but for other departments like sales (to see future availability), human resources (to see future needs of people), finance (forecasting of sales and expenses).

A great tool for minimal budget and hours tracking, very little to no collaboration - Recommend for large companies!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use 10000ft across all departments of Brand Design within a much larger company. Brand Design functions as an internal agency for our company, consulting on global designs across all brands both 2D and 3D. We use 10000ft to monitor and track all projects across the board, to track hours for freelance resources and update timelines and milestones.

Pros

  • Tracks freelance resource hours.
  • Tracks multiple small projects and milestones within the projects.
  • Tracks budget information and scope creep.

Cons

  • It's often confusing to use and find things, I sometimes find it to be a little counterintuitive as to where functions are (e.g. for tracking budgets and pulling reports).
  • When pulling a budget I always struggled to comb through the large amounts of data and time inputted. When I select a filter the page often wouldn't refresh or i'd forget to de-select a filter as it wasn't in an obvious place, which sometimes left me with pulling an incorrect budget.
  • The data is only as good as the people entering the time. Often with so many small tasks people would enter time incorrectly, in the wrong milestone or project. It lists all of your projects on one page, so it's not easy to enter it and there's a lot of room for error.

Likelihood to Recommend

I think 10000ft is good for bare minimum project monitoring, we used it a large company because we didn't need to have exact numbers - it was just a rough idea to see where freelance resources were over burning. If, however you work a much smaller company and really need to know detailed information it's not as effective, there are many other software options that really allow for much closer and precise tracking.

I would recommend 10000ft for companies that just need to monitor large freelance teams, track hours and higher level projects that are also monitored on other project management tools. It's a tool I would only use in conjunction with something else.
