Advanced AI capabilities

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When I need a specific image that can’t be found with stock or our existing libraries. Being able to use generative AI saves time and gives you what you’re looking for without having to recreate or develop something new. I’ve been using in prompts for images and also like using it find videos that can help make a story come to life

Pros

  • Editing photos
  • Creating specific images
  • Applying a style to an image

Cons

  • Text integration and being able to add that into images
  • Allowing a draft/brainstorm image as a starting point to create different variations of the image

Likelihood to Recommend

It’s been great for internal communication projects, like flyers, posters, announcements. Less ideal for more professional high-quality images that are customer/consumer facing.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The business would like to speed up the process for creating posters and images for internal promotional material as there are many events throughout the year and the turn around can be quite tight. Adobe Firefly is intended to help support with this with generative tools to save time in the creation process

Pros

  • Integration with other adobe products
  • Roadmap for development is strong
  • Familiar software

Cons

  • Environmental concerns surrounding AI generation
  • In my experience, images generated are inconsistent , unpredictable
  • Requires internet connectivity at all times

Likelihood to Recommend

I think it can be useful in helping to edit existing images with generative fill, however this is an aspect that exists in Adobe Photoshop already. In my opinion, full image generation remains weak and inconsistent at times leading to multiple tries and re-tries. Images involving faces and text are smeary and unfinished looking so they remain unusable

Adobe Firefly is fun to use and provides good value

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Adobe Firefly is great for ideation. We often use it to concept and play. It doesn’t do great with human faces yet, though. So it’s not something we use in final art.

Pros

  • Concepting
  • pattern matching
  • great idea starter

Cons

  • Human bodies and faces aren’t realistic
  • animal faces often have mistakes

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need starting points for advertising, Adobe Firefly is great for that. However, make sure someone is checking the result for errors before using it. After creating an image with cats, I found one had a third ear, and another had what looked like a closed eye on its hat. It’s subtle so you really need to scour through every bit. I still think it’s a great illustration tool though. It gets you 90% to the finish line.
