What is AI21 Studio powered by Jamba?
AI21 supports the development of enterprise AI Systems and foundation models, stating their mission is to supply cutting-edge deep tech research into enterprise-ready AI systems. AI21 offers privately deployed models with tailored solutions for organizations. Founded in 2017, AI21 has raised $336 million from leading investors including NVIDIA, Google and Intel.
AI21 Studio is powered by Jamba. Jamba is a production-grade Mamba based model. AI21 states that by enhancing Mamba Structured State Space model (SSM) technology with elements of the traditional Transformer architecture, Jamba compensates for the inherent limitations of a pure SSM model. Offering a 256K effective context window, it provides gains in throughput and efficiency. The vendor further states that Jamba outperforms or matches other state-of-the-art models in its size class on a wide range of benchmarks.
Both Jamba 1.5 Mini and Jamba 1.5 Large models were trained on a massive corpus of text, making them versatile general purpose text-generators, capable of composing human-like text and solving complex tasks such as question answering, text summarization, information extraction, drafting, text classification and others.
Additionally, AI21's RAG Engine offers enterprises a solution for implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation. The user can upload documents (PDF, DOCX, HTML, or TXT) to a document library, then use the RAG engine to query those documents in natural language. The answer will be generated solely from the contents of those documents; if the information is not included in those documents, the RAG engine will say so. The base model is used solely for generating natural language text.
