Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager the best solution for enterprise data protection and management at high cost

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have used in past Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager cloud solutions to protect business data for critical services such as users' geo-location history or trips. Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager has been rich in features, that are quite important for the management of such sensitive information. A few to mention here are: ransomware protection solutions; live-monitoring; NetBackup Recovery Vault ; EU-compliant servers (GDPR compliant). One of the key features was the ability to schedule the automatic deletion of certain user data. This ensured we remained GDPR compliant with little to no manual effort.

Pros

  • automatic backup
  • multi cloud integration
  • Customizable data retention solutions (short/mid/long term)
  • Ransomware Resilient

Cons

  • More pricing option for small to medium size companies
  • More user-friendly reporting options for intrusion detection
  • Customizable user access rights and profiles (e.g the ability to schedule different notifications for user profiles)

Likelihood to Recommend

Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager is great for the orchestration and management of its data protection workflows, with a leading multi-cloud integration solution and multiple storage location options. The downside of Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager it's the high price, compare to similar solutions that claimed the same results, but are less known.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager to our DR cluster services where we should have the data replicated between main and DR datacenters in order to be up-to-date and in case of some disaster we have all data replicated to the DR ones to have the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) as short as possible.

Pros

  • Replication
  • Reliability
  • Escalation

Cons

  • Possibility to be able to configure using a secondary link
  • vvrlink check output like 'top' command
  • Documentation

Likelihood to Recommend

As said before Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager is very useful for DR scenarios where you have your data up-to-date in another site/place where your Recovery Point Objective should be short - this is our case regarding some critical applications - and VOM is the best tool, in my opinion, to make those things happen.
