Broadcom Automic Automation we use for batch job automation. Customer has numerous automation problem such as multiple job dependencies where one job has to finish successfully to start the other job. Automic automation capabilities are fantastic to address this kind of requirements. We use automic to execute 1 Million jobs per month. Scheduling such a high scale of jobs was not an easy task. Automic is handling such a huge load easily whithout any glitch. User interface is very intuitive support easily for batch job monitoring team and automic administrator.

Cons

Broadcom Automic Automation as SAAS service , It is available on containers but it should be full SAAS as many of customers are looking full SAAS of Automic
FTP Solution for file transfer this capability is lacking with product, as of now only agent to agent file can be transferred, there should should be FTM management function available to handle files from out side of data center.
UI enhancement , looks older view of dashboard UI need more advance dashboarding capability

This product has huge capacity to run millions of jobs per month, can serve to enterprise level of business. If client is looking for platform base solution which can be deployed on-prem or cloud base technologies then this solution works well. It has very good licensing mechanism which is based on number of agents, and there is no limitation of number of jobs run. So client has not to worry on limitation of jobs and can scale of the automation in the environment. This reduced the total cost of ownership of product. Self service automation feature can reduce the client automation cost significantly. it has good batch job coverages from Mainframe to Microservices.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have been using Broadcom Automic Automation for over 15 years. Initially, it was mainly used in the automation of DWH/BI and controlling applications as well as in the area of managed file transfer. Then it was also used for the pre- and post-processing of application deployments. Broadcom Automic Automation has also been used to control SAP applications for about 5 years. We are currently implementing the additional solution Automic System Copy. For approximately 3 years, Broadcom Automic Automation has also been the backbone for our self-implemented "Software Defined Infrastructure" solution.

Pros

Wide range of internal functions
Many interfaces (incoming and outgoing)
Modern, web-based user interface
Strong roadmap with topics such as containerisation and AI
High throughput possible (> 1 million executions per day)

Cons

Support. Many companies, at least in Europe, now get support from resellers.
The user interface is actually not well suited for non-technical users.

Likelihood to Recommend

The heart of Broadcom Automic Automation, the so-called Automation Engine, can be used for orchestration and as a process engine for a wide variety of purposes, such as workload automation, software deployment (release automation), and event-driven automation. I see the user interface as a disadvantage, as it is more geared towards technical users.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) is used to perform Information Technology Process Automation (ITPA). This tool offers enormous functionalities that can be used to automate applications which allow remote function calls and APIs. It works well with mail objects. This tool is primarily used to automate SAP application which is an enterprise resource planning tool.

Pros

SAP Automation is the foremost thing that comes to mind.
Supports automation Scripts in multiple operating systems such as Linux, Windows, etc.

Cons

Could improve the framework.
Could improve the underlying coding standards.

Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) is well suited for applications such as SAP and operating systems such as windows, Linux. It can be used to automate these applications as it can be done through remote function calls and business application peripheral interfaces. It can also be used to run scripts on remote machines, which further enables automation of ms office applications such as ms Excel and MS Word.

To simplify redundant tasks, our organization utilized Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) through multiple environments. From restarts of application servers to specific jobs that need to be executed routinely, Automic plays an integral part in our infrastructure. Our business dictates 24/7 support, and the Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) helps fulfill what would typically be very manual operational tasks.

If you have an infrastructure with complex security constraints, multi-users, multi-environment, then Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) is an excellent tool for execution automation. We use it primarily on-prem, and it works well in our environment. I would think a cloud solution maybe a little more challenging to implement. But for routine scheduling of menial tasks Automic One Automation Platform (formerly CA Automic Automation Platform) is a reliable product.
