Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BrowserStack primarily to test the UI/UX for the websites and also to check the responsiveness on various devices. Mobile applications are also extensively tested on different platforms, browsers and devices for the design compatibility. The advantage with BrowserStack is the easy to use dashboard and the option to parallelly test multiple mobile devices including the latest devices launched.

I am using BrowserStack for cross browser testing, Mobile testing, Visual testing and Accessibility testing. Exploring LowCode recently. The major business problem that gets addressed is Real time testing in real devices rather than simulators or emulators. Also when it comes to compliance, BrowserStack's Accessibility helps way better than other tools in the market in making WCAG 2.XX compliances and testing ease and effortless and automating it too.

I see they have Low code and AI driven automation. But still there is more room for improvement in this area to make it easier for automation testers.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

BrowserStack allows us to test websites and web-based software across a full range of browsers and devices that is not practical for us to do so in other ways, ensuring issues are found before going into production.

Also we use it to investigate specific customer issues that might be affecting a certain browser version or operating system.

Quick start up of browser on real devices
Remembering recent sessions
Full range of devices and operating system versions

Cons

Session time outs are sometimes a bit quick
Multiple device in parallel sometimes crashes

It's well suited to tracking down hard to find errors that are only affecting a tiny portion of customers often due to older browser compatibility.

BrowserStack's Chrome extension also helps us find and address potential Accessibility issues with our sites.

Not suitable for testing HTML email templates, but there are other platforms for that.

We are web developers and were looking for something to help us test lots of devices all at once. We signed up to BrowserStack because we knew you could emulate devices with different browsers, and we were hoping this would speed up our testing. We mainly used this feature although I know it has a lot of other functionality but we didn't need to use that.

Ability to test many different types of devices
Ability to test many different browsers
See a list of all the major device and browser combinations

Cons

You could only emulate a few devices at a time meaning you had to be quite choosy with the device / browser combinations you were testing
Although you could favourite devices, you couldn't seem to easily launch a group of emulators - you had to add them all in again
The emulators could be a bit slow and laggy

I think if you were doing a lot of testing on a specific thing, it would be really useful to do the same tests again and again. We make a lot of websites and are doing a lot of testing on different websites. We found BrowserStack difficult to work with the pace and variety we needed to test, efficiently.

We use BrowserStack to test our product on various devices and platforms, like mobile phones and desktop computers, without needing to physically own a bunch of different devices. This helps us make sure everything works properly for users around the world, no matter what device, screen size or operating system they're using. We also use BrowserStack's Test Management tool to keep all our test cases organised in one place. It uses AI to help us generate new test cases quickly, saving us a lot of time. On top of that, it lets us connect our automated test results directly through API, making it easier to track and manage the test results in our automation suites.

Cons

In BrowserStack Live changing of location before browser is started is not supported
Not allow to rename default values of filter in Test Management
While creating single test using Title via AI then option to add a more context to generate more accurate test case is not supported

BrowserStack Live is really good and help in reducing efforts to own and maintain different devices. BrowserStack Test Management when compared to its competitors have edge due to its Easy & Modern UI, AI Integration etc. If you want to add Visual Regression testing in your automation suite in that case Percy is also a great tool.

Pros

Latency is great.
OS and Browser Selection is great.
All needed features are intuitively accessible.

Cons

Inspect Element does not always work as intended. It doesn't always load properly.
There are many different app icon present on a device, such an iPad - most of which are not accessible. This is fine, except for the fact that trying to open one of those apps freezes the device for a while.

I haven't found any other service where I can use real devices, with the ease that BrowserStack offers.

We were using BrowserStack mainly for testing the website that we built. Mainly for the purpose of responsiveness testing. BrowserStack made the process of testing the website very simple and easy. We can also take screenshots of bugs that we encountered and it made testing quick and easy for our team. We tested it on multiple browsers as well as tested the site on mobile devices and it was so easy.

I had the best experience, I had to test websites responsiveness on multiple screens and multiple devices and BrowserStack got those covered for anyone who wants to test it for multiple devices. It is well suited for testing purposes.

We use BrowserStack to test all operating systems and browser combinations that our platforms support. BrowserStack helps us to identify bugs in our software reported by our customer base without having to purchase all operating systems that they use.

Pros

Provides almost every combination of real world user experience.
Ability to determine bug reports and reproduce problems in a timely manner.
I wouldn't be able to perform my integration testing as a QA professional without BrowserStack.

Cons

The ability to test emails via specific operating systems; we had a bug happening via Outlook on a specific operating system only. I reached out to support and this is not something currently possible in BrowserStack.

BrowserStack is perfect for all of my integration testing as a QA professional. Many offerings do not provide mobile platforms to perform testing, but BrowserStack does! This is invaluable for accessibility testing.

We primarily use BrowserStack for live, cross-browser testing. We are rebuilding over 15 websites and need to verify the site looks and works consistent in 22+ different browsers. We plan on taking advantage of the automated testing next, to be sure that, for example, forms work consistently and that their workflows are indeed firing properly.

BrowserStack is a immense stack. There's a tool for anyone, anything. From a solo developer to enterprise teams - its works for all scenarios. BUT that's also a weakness. There's too many tools in the stack. It would be better to combine similar or overlapping features. For example the live browser test and snapshots should be merged into one. Also, would love a periodic snapshot test that tells me if there's a threshold of divergence between screenshots, effectively automating cross-browser testing.

I use BrowserStack on a daily basis to QA and check logs for the daily test runs. It is very useful for automated and manual testing with the AI feature to add the test cases which is great. You also have the option to choose between multiple devices and browsers occurs different operating systems. This makes it a one-stop solution to test for any bug, which might be specific to the device/os version.
