Use Cisco Catalyst Switches for layer 2 networking at main sites to interconnect switch ports.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Cisco Catalyst Switches throughout our enterprise. We use them as core and idf switches and they enable our team to provide the services expected throughout our campus.

We use Cisco switches at our distribution and access Layer. Also, as a VPN Solution. Only business problems to note are software bugs.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use switches in all different departments and different buildings. We connect them all fiber and all go back to our core pretty much.

Pros

They're pretty fast connection. They're pretty simple to config and they're pretty reliable. We haven't bought much of them because they work great unless they run out alive. But other than that they're great. They don't break. Knock on wood.

Cons

We use them in our main building where we have to have 10 gigabyte network. So they're able to give us 10 gig connections to them and we were able to create a path out to the internet, so that was a great improvement for that purpose. And it's fast.

They work great in our data center. They work great in the IDF closets where sometimes heat they maintain pretty good and I can't see much of a weakness, but unless they're fall out from our remote sites that we have to somehow. But no, they worked fine.

Core and Access Layer Distribution. They allow us to connect up all of our devices and build out an IT and OT network. They also allow us to use set up access points, do port based security and allow our users and machines to gain connectivity to the internet.

They are being used by my whole organization.
They address issues like the connectivity to end devices and lan extension modules.
There are few instances or situations in which they are not used.
Cisco Catalyst Switches provide unparalleled support and connectivity when used in situations where connectivity is paramount and wifi is unavailable.
