I use Duo on a daily basis to sign into my corporate network and to authenticate my Cisco Secure Client connection.

At an airport and connecting to public WiFi Duo has to timeout before prompting for an authentication. But I’m being nit picky because that delay is seconds.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Cisco Duo as a 2fa for windows log on for any device utilized with sensitive data as well as critical server systems. We use it in our entire main office and for all of our server infrastructure. The business problems we face are password sharing for accounts, making multiple users access a single account.

Pros

Cisco Duo provides us a way to limit RDP login accounts.
The Cisco Duo app works smoothly and quickly.
The Cisco Duo management side gives us good access in customizing our login policies.

Cons

Login for Mac devices should be more controlled as a single sign on to a device will keep the user logged in even after sleep mode is enabled.
Quicker log on would be nice, as it slows down the login loading process.
Offer more alternative hardware tokens then they provide now.

Likelihood to Recommend

Cisco Duo is well suited for securing departments that often process sensitive PII data. A great scenario is securing RDP to critical servers, as it can challenge any user attempting to connect.

We implemented Cisco Duo for our customers as their MFA solution, we integrated Cisco Duo with ISE, Palo Alto and Cisco Jabber as well.

Our next plan is to implement the Password less and windows login features.

Cover further integrations with the built-in Apps
Replace the button named "Send to Trash" when we delete users, its not that friendly to our customers

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Cisco Duo application for multi factor authentication which helps us to access our critical servers and applications more securely. We log in to the active directory for administrative purpose using their username and password, and then Cisco Duo ensures the security by sending a push notification on mobile app. Cisco Duo mainly helps us to prevent unauthorized access to our critical servers and sytems which are directly involved with the business.

We use Cisco Duo with different type of device and application, but we never face any difficulties to integrate Cisco Duo with any of them.
We integrated Cisco Duo with some of our active directory and some of the OS are quite old but Cisco Duo works totally fine with them.
The end user application is very easy to use. We never had any complain from non tech team members of having trouble of using Cisco Duo.
There are several authentication methods available rather than passcode. I personally like the push notification which is always on time and quite fast.

Cons

Cisco Duo is great for MFA and quite a straightforward app. The overall administrative control is good but I would suggest providing more control like the ability to set custom timeouts for MFA notifications and their approving time which would help in scenarios where users may need more or less time to respond.
There are other MFA tools out there in the market like Cisco Duo. Cisco is a reliable name, but in order to compete with others I would suggest providing a few extra features like password management, single sign-on (SSO), or built-in VPN support alongside MFA in a single app.

Likelihood to Recommend

Cisco Duois is well suited in all kinds of scenarios where you need to ensure proper security measurements, I think. We can't just rely on our passwords only, as they can be easily stolen through phishing or data breaches thus keeping multi factor authentication is quite essential. I always prefer MFA or at least 2FA for any critical system.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for Single Sign On (SSO) as well as Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) for our SaaS and On Premises applications.

Pros

The authentication methods all work very well
The information provided from the admin interface are very rich
I can get all the authentications into my SIEM
The whole system is easy to setup, understand, maintain and scales very good
The learning platform is incredible helpful

Cons

E-Mail as an authentication factor (currently missing)
Different prices/tiers for employees (=regular users) and contractors (=users who might connect once a month/once a year...)

For our cyber security insurance we needed to add multi factor authentication (mfa) for remote access per vpn. With Cisco Duo it was very easy to implement this requirement and from there also tried to use Duo for everything that supports SAML for authentication.
