Cisco Meeting Server - Seamless and Reliable Tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cisco Meeting Server is mainly used to interact with clients and product team. And is also used to track and get on with business opportunities. When on a call with client, it is important to listen and convey each others needs in a business point of view, that too without any delay or hindrance. Cisco Meeting Server addresses this issue seamlessly and provided us with the desired results. There was a time where we had to connect with internal team who were working remotely for a critical update on the product and it was difficult to gather everyone and convey the insights at a single point and other conferencing tools we had used earlier had failed us, but Cisco Meeting Server did great job in handling all the personnel in the meeting without any lags or disconnectivity.

Pros

  • Simple, yet intuitive user experience and user friendly.
  • Easier collaboration with other tools to enhance the experience.
  • Boosts overall productivity and cost effective

Cons

  • Add some of the features which are currently only accessible by API, this will reduce intervention of support team and downtime.
  • Bring some features to foreground. Some users find it difficult to navigate to certain buttons which are embedded in menus.
  • Allow easy access to some of the controls.

Return on Investment

  • Boosts productivity within the organisation with continuous collaboration within teams.
  • Saves on overall investment.
  • Gives a great outlook to potential customers.

Seamless Meeting experience

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this internally for team/departmental huddles on a weekly basis to tackle issues that might arise or hamper project progress. It is very convenient as it integrates well with Cisco Webex and 3rd party devices easily.

Pros

  • Integrates well with other devices
  • More than 1 person can be on video call with minimal lag
  • Quiet cost effective for a company with many employees

Cons

  • Sound quality can improve, sometimes, you see people talking, and the words follow 2secs after
  • Would be fun if they could have fun emoticons that are interactive
  • Perhaps they can add a notepad section for meetings where you could save documents or have an audio transcribe or summarize a meeting

Return on Investment

  • Definitely cost effective if you use most of the services and are a partner
  • They are very supportive with any issues the business faces and offers great solutions
  • I would like to see a more user-friendly website

Usability

Best On-premise based Meeting solution in the market

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have Cisco WebEx and Zoom subscriptions, but these are cloud based meeting providers. We were looking for a product which can be used to host meetings at on-premise to keep the data on-prem for security. We researched, apart from Cisco Meeting Server, only Poly had a similar solution but it was quite outdated.

Pros

  • Video meetings
  • Webrtc
  • audio meetings
  • cisco call manager integrations

Cons

  • a bit difficult to implement
  • maintenance
  • requires a technical resource with enterprise or partner

Return on Investment

  • We used it for most of the Board and exec meetings, which are quite a few in our business. Reduced travelling and saved costs
  • Implementation is a bit tedious and thus requires experts/partner
  • Requires expert people too manage unlike Webex/Zoom which are cloud based and don't have anything on-prem
