"Preferred Tool For Monitoring And Managing Network Infrastructure"

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

LAN Management Solution (LMS) from Cisco is what we use in our organization. Our devices’ approachable health and allow for remote connectivity monitoring. On the dashboard, we can see a quick overview of devices, performance data, and various incidents in the system. We used the dashboard to keep tabs on the health of our machines. Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution can monitor our device and network action to create bulk configurations for multiple devices. It scans and manages network equipment in data centers, offices, ROBOs, factories, and ships. Easy to set up and use. Access to pre-existing solutions. It is a big plus.

Pros

  • Wireless file detection and planning mode has helped us expand into new areas of our buildings.
  • Alerting is detailed when we have issues with hardwired and wireless devices, and Rogue Access Points are easily identifiable.
  • Cisco equipment information is much more detailed than other management products' SNMP queries and is an excellent tool for troubleshooting end-device connectivity issues.
  • Our KPI reporting for senior management and centralized management of our WIPS 'Wireless Intrusion Prevention' setup have both benefited significantly from the detailed reporting capabilities.

Cons

  • Contextualized traffic visibility, examination of configuration structures and issues, and solution suggestion
  • While device inventory reports are relatively simple to use, alerts are less so, necessitating further investigation.
  • Regulated by on the screen, the solution can be slow. The system isn't prolonged, but it can be inconvenient at times.

Most Important Features

  • Bulk device and equipment configuration, including wireless management.
  • Easily create scheduled configurations, perform fault and performance monitoring, and generate reports with alerts and statistics.
  • The mapping layout of network devices includes health monitoring, heat maps, and network device mapping.
  • Reporting, as well as centralized management and oversight, are all accessible through a single point of contact.

Return on Investment

  • Cisco Prime identifies authentication issues without manually searching Radius logs, freeing up technician time for other tasks.
  • It improved our environment visibility and reduced issues with native monitoring and management tools.
  • No configuration backups and no third-party integration options allow for easy re-deployment or replacement.
