What is CodeMonkey?

CodeMonkey, from the company of the same name in Palo Alto, is a game-based learning environment where children learn to code in real programming languages.

A Fun Way to Learn a Daunting Topic.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It was a great entry-level way for my people to learn basic coding. I think in a world of skilled workers, there are a lot of skills that are not taught properly or at all. Codemonkey helped with giving the younger people that work for us a headstart in learning this valuable tool. It will eventually address the cost problem of outsourcing a lot of coding to third-party contractors.

Pros

  • Introducing you to coding in a friendly way.
  • Improves efficiency of those teaching coding.
  • Lots of tutorials to help as well.

Cons

  • I would like to see an easier means of getting support aside from social media posts.
  • The video tutorials can be difficult to follow.

Most Important Features

  • Making coding simple.
  • making support very easy to receive.
  • Fun, Interactive sessions.

Return on Investment

  • Positive - Allowing our staff to enhance their skills.
  • Positive - Definitely a long-term ROI in that we will not have to outsource our coding to 3rd parties.
  • Negative - I feel that using it can definitely be limiting with how you learn away from the product.
