Use Cases and Deployment Scope

With our move to M365 we needed a solution to backup our Microsoft Online Data. Cohesity provided a solution that required no tool or agent installed onto our on-premise infrastructure. Everything is hosted via cloud which was ideal for to reduce our on-premise footprint.

Pros

Complete Cloud Solution
Easy to use Interface
Restoration of deleted items made seemless.

Cons

Include a dashboard that tells you how many of your licences have been used.
Separate Live mailbox and Archive mailbox backups
Some Errors could be made a bit more clear.

Return on Investment

We've a few occasions where Outlook items have been permanently deleted. Cohesity Backup had mulitple backups allowing us to restore the lost items.
Can be managed by O365 Security Groups meaning offboarding is easier and ensuring licences aren't take unneccesarily
Backup of Sharepoint and Teams has been very helpful.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cohesity is our primary backup solution for more than 1500 servers in two different datacenters. It also provides File shares for several customers. We migrated from Commvault two years ago and are very pleased with the result. Cohesity is much faster to backup and restore and can provide instant recovery for the VM environment.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cohesity has been a great addition to our organization as a backup solution. We have been using it for the last 5 years now, and it is being used for backing up AWS instances, on-prem servers, and NAS shares. Using Cohesity is fairly easy since all configurations can be done from the GUI. However, at the same time, it is still not fully mature, and every now and then, we do face issues where we have to work with the support and development team to resolve them.

Pros

Cohesity is very easy to use.
Cohesity is versatile, we can backup all type of environment.
Cohesity is very flexible, it can very easy deployed in any region.

Cons

The support quality can be improved.
The tool is still not mature, so we end up doing a lot of troubleshooting.
The turnaround time for resolving an issue should be improved.

Using Cohesity has increased the overall savings.
With Cohesity as our preferred backup tool, we have been able to reduce the number of technologies.
With Cohesity, we have able to manage the infrastructure with fewer resources.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using Cohesity for our on-prem backups, and backup as a service for all our M365/O365 applications. Our previous vendor was not able to complete all backups within a 24 hour time period, this caused items to miss backup schedules. A second appliance was added to try and help this issue, and it did for a brief period, then it was an issue again. Instead of adding a 3rd appliance we started shopping around for a new product.

Currently have no issues with the product
If I had to come up with one item, I do have to restore VM's to physical hardware from time to time for deployment testing. I have to use a 3rd party product to deploy a backup to a bare-metal item. This would be a nice feature if it was native to Cohesity.
I wish I would have heard of Cohesity years ago and not about 3 years ago. I could have used them about 10 years ago.

Return on Investment

The ROI on Cohesity for us was less than a year.
Cohesity has give many hours back to my work day each and every week.
The Immutable File System give me comfort in knowing that my data is safe
