Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The business problems that the product addresses are the need to evaluate deals in the M&A space and have a secure data room for evaluation of these companies. We use the Datasite Digital Virtual Data Room (VDR) feature as buyers, downloading the initial VDR and then downloading any incremental files uploaded by the bankers on the sellside.

Well-organized system to update buyers on incremental files uploaded
Great interactive Q&A feature to help buyers get answers to key diligence questions

Cons

Better search feature within the VDR for certain files
Logging in after a session expiration should take you back to the sub-site you were on before

If you are a buyer looking to facilitate diligence on a deal, Datasite is the best VDR provider to be able to see key files, download an index to sort through key files, get questions answered, and generally enable easy communication between the sellside and buyside parties on a deal.

We use datasite to share information as we evaluate potential M&A transactions. We find it is a great way to organize everything in one place, and to act as the single source of truth for information that has been shared by multiple parties. In some cases, we'll use the VDR to store information internally when multiple stakeholders are involved in the aggregation of information.

I'm an M&A attorney, so use VDRs as part of our diligence process. I think it's a great tool for receiving and sharing diligence information, it has good indexing, bulk download and searching features, and is generally easy to use.

The various alert formats (instantaneous, daily, etc.) are helpful, and it's nice to be able to sort by specific dates as well. It's very user friendly for diligence purposes on the buy side and sell side.

Our company uses Datasite to connect with our clients across the M&A landscape in order to share data between multiple parties engaged on a particular deal. My group is primarily focused on Insurance, however, various other workstreams use Datasite to share data specific to those areas.

Pros

Download multiple files at once
Easy to navigate across multiple projects
User interface is fast and does not cause delays

Cons

Make the "projects" screen more detailed in order to better decipher between projects.
Enable MFA in order to increase security and prevent bad actors.
Implement a chat function to speak with customer service.

Likelihood to Recommend

Datasite does a great job with the easy-to-use interface and the ability to navigate between multiple projects. I would like to see MFA be enabled to give my organization and our clients "peace of mind" around security.
