My Favorite Creative Stock Asset Website

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a creative graphics designer, filmmaker, and website designer, I need to find high-quality stock assets for my projects. After searching many websites, I found Depositphotos to be the best source for licensing Stock Images, Photos, Vectors, Illustrations, and Videos. The website is easy to navigate and it has a huge collection of high-quality images, that never ceases to amaze me.I use Depositphotos as one of my main sources for commercial usage of very high-quality stock assets for my professional film projects, website designing elements, photos for my blog, youtube channel, and social media, and commercial ads projects.

Pros

  • I particularly like using Depositphotos when creating or updating my website because they have a huge collection of high-quality images that can be used as backgrounds on my website or as highlighted photos in my hero header and my landing pages to grab the attention of my site visitors effectively.
  • I often need photos on a variety of topics related to my niche to go with my blog posts, and Depositphotos has never let me down. I have always been able to find an image that fits each of my blog posts.
  • I can always rest assured that I have licensed and legitimately used the images, and not worry about any future copyright strikes or infringements.

Cons

  • I hail from Assam in north-east India and really wish that Depositphotos had a larger collection of images from my local region, as there are rich and diverse cultures to be found in the seven states of north-east India.
  • I really wish Depositphotos had a monthly or yearly plan like Envato Elements that was easy on the wallet and gave full access to the whole collection. Instead, I have to pay per photo or buy a bundle of photos at a higher price.
  • There is a lot of competition for Depositphotos from sites like Shutterstock, Adobe stock, Envato, Getty Images, 123rf, and many more that have stock content that is related to or the same as Depositphotos. In this way, Depositphotos loses its uniqueness and exclusivity, and hundreds of the same photos can be found on competing sites for the same price or less, depending on discounts and offers.

Most Important Features

  • The large collection of high quality Images, Photos, Vectors, Illustrations and Videos.
  • A very user friendly search and browse features.
  • A variety of content on any niche and topic is constantly updated and expanding.

Return on Investment

  • I have been able to secure the copyright protection and security of all of my Depositphotos-licensed stock assets.
  • With the help of Depositphotos, I was able to make my website, videos, and ads look great. This made a big impression on my clients and customers.
  • I've gotten great deals on Depositphotos purchases when I waited for seasonal or Black Friday sales.

Great selection of quality images with impressive search functionality

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Depositphotos primarily for images and icons used for social media, website, and sales funnel page builds. Many website builders have a limited selection of icons and graphics, so I use Depositphotos for vector images and high-quality stock photos for backgrounds, thumbnails, and page design. The images from Depositphotos tend to be more accurate and less repetitive than in other places.

Pros

  • Search function is accurate and robust.
  • Selection is different from the most used free image sites. The quality of the images is professional and high resolution.
  • Their search filtering options are useful to match the type of image you are looking for. Let's you choose the type of person you want in the background, landscape versus isolation, orientation, etc.

Cons

  • I first found them via a search result that promotes free images from them but when I tried the free search, it usually asks to create an account and then makes it look like payment is needed.
  • Hence, there needs to be a clearer distinction between paid versus free. Maybe, a watermark in the thumbnail or something similar.
  • Personally, I dislike having too many accounts everywhere. If something is free, I don't understand why I need to create an account to download it. Maybe, there's a customer-focused way to position the account creation as a benefit instead of making it look like a barrier or marketing ploy.
  • It's a challenging problem to address but regularly I see images that appear on free image sites. I don't know if someone takes them from Depositphotos and puts them on a free site or vice-versa but it seems odd to pay for an image that appears for free somewhere else.
  • Related to this, there are times when the images appear are vectors but they come with specific text that cannot be edited. Maybe, these images shouldn't be allowed on the platform.

Most Important Features

  • The specificity of the search functionality
  • The quality of the images
  • The volume package specials which help with cost management

Return on Investment

  • The biggest impact comes from saving time searching for images due to the accuracy of the keyword search and the quality selection. Rarely do I see images that don't relate to what I search for.
  • Cost per download is much lower when 100 images pack are on sale on Appsumo or direct sales. Rather than paying $1+ per image, I have paid as low as $0.30.
  • Helped me build sites with images that enhance the message on my pages and projects.

We have used Depositphotos for our Marketing teams for the stock photos that are being used on our websites. • Availability of other asset types like Video and Music
  • Built in background remover
