Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Used Device42 on my virtualized environment to test my own devices in a UAT environment.

Fairly powerful in terms of scope as we can run several scans and deployment concurrently (/23 subnet masks). No need for scripts as everything can be done via the system that reduces the manual deployment scenario.

Pros

Provides detailed information regarding the IT assets with Device42 installed
Report generation is fairly easy as compared to some of the system I used in the past

Cons

I don't usually comment about the user interface but it is kind of outdated

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for deploying updates on your environment. As per my case, I utilized Device42 in a virtualized environment. Removes the time needed to manually deploy because of how intuitive it is to configure with Device42.

1. We use it for the identification of assets & its locations.

2. We use it for mass updates. Because of this, we save lots of time.

3. Installbase management is an amazing feature. It allows us to retire our old spreadsheet methods for tracking the data in favour of a singular database with some excellent reporting.

4. It helps in documenting all the connections that are made.

UI/UX is not up to the standards.
Can't mass update everything.
No export option for the sub components that have changed linked to the device they are assigned to
Plugins options are limited
Sometimes randomly times out my login forcing me to log in again.

1. Installbase management feature allows us to retire our old spreadsheet methods for tracking the data in favour of a singular database with some excellent reporting.2. We are also providing data connectivity from the WAN Providers and keeping all connections in Device42 gives us the ability have documentation of all connection that are made.

3. Ever changing and growing inventory that needs to be carefully tracked and inventoried. We find this so simple to use that we spend much less time than we used to on tracking these items.

Device42 is a software appropiate for the license administration and software control. This application hasn`t an module where you can admin the software owners, and for my that is something than can be improved in the future.

Device42 is a loaded network management software and data centre.It's an agentless discovery tool that provides applications across many data centers in single source of truth for all IT needs.It's also very dependable in mapping.

Pros

It has an excellent customer support team.
It exceeds the expectations of the clients.
It has alit of options making it easy to use.
It's very secured.
It's dependable.

Cons

More widgets in dashboard with collect information would be good.
Different fonts and color themes lacks in UI.Modern graphics elements would be better.
Sometimes its time consuming.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For the last 3 years,I have really enjoyed working with Device42 as our preferred Asset Management Tool. I must say I am very delighted and a very satisfied customer. It's a very easy-to-use,setup and has a very proactive support team. What I love most about it,it's quick to identify issues and plan for the future with ease and powerful dependency mappings of resources and applications.

Pros

Device42 Delivers next generation IT services with automated syndication and Integration.
Enables our IT Administrator to track down hardware, software,devices and networts.
Responsive support team.
Scalable and flexible.

Cons

There are bugs and issues to workout,but they are working day by day delivering on good services.
Has a very outward and weak UI.

Likelihood to Recommend

With Device42 we are able to feel the value of our money. We mainly use it for DCIM and Networts discovery. The support team has always been very responsive and of great help. I would definitely recommend this tool.

Device42 has a very intuitive and proactive Support team readily available 24*7. I like it's very easy to discover assets and infrastructure data with multiple methods of discovery. I like that also it's very easy to configure, learn how to use it, and very user-friendly interface that is very easy to customize and navigate.

Limitations of some discovery capabilities of vendors.

Currently being used by the IT department and it provides several solutions such as discovery, datacenter management, asset management, dependency mapping, and even has a built in password manager which has proved useful with hardly any initial configuration or dependencies. To some degree, it is an all in one multi-purpose software that any IT department would find useful.
