Pros

  • The platform is aesthetically pleasing. It is very similar to popular social media platforms.
  • It is great for formative assessment because you can give students immediate feedback on evaluations.
  • You can upload all kinds of files, making it easy for students to access information anywhere, anytime.

Cons

  • It would be helpful to have a chat window to interact with students directly.
  • The mobile version is not as good as the web version and has technical glitches, which students occasionally complain about.
  • The software occasionally runs slow, but hardly ever.

Return on Investment

  • As an intervention teacher, Edmodo has helped in teaching my intervention classes. 12 students were able to exit the intervention program this semester due to getting caught up on the material. Edmodo has been helpful in supporting my teaching and thus the success of the students.
  • Edmodo has been helpful for students who are absent a lot. It makes it very easy for them to get caught up on work without me having to chase them around.
  • Some parents are busy and don't have time to come in for a face to face conversation with the teacher. Edmodo makes it so these parents can still easily communicate with me.
