Navigator Performance Review

Pros

  • User friendly for both admin & employees
  • Allows admin to upload documents which are then accessible to employees
  • Offers customizable reports for admin and many beneficial features we didn't previously have with our other platform.

Cons

  • Employee Change Notification emails sent to admin could explain the changes vs me having to login to view from wall. That's the only area I as an admin currently see as room for improvement.

Most Important Features

  • Ability by admin to upload docs which are then accessible to employees across the board.
  • Customizable reports for admin users.
  • Updates different benefits to carriers of any employee benefit changes mostly without issue. This is a huge plus for us as the other platform didn't do so properly 90% of the time. In turn created issues deducting benefit premiums thru payroll.

Return on Investment

  • It's cost efficient - Cost to us is no more than we were paying for previous platform & offers so much more
  • Saves Time which in turn saves company money - Previous platform didn't always update carriers of employee benefit changes or update premiums for ancillary coverages easily. This created obvious issues which took time away from other job duties that needed my attention as admin.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Employee Navigator to manage our benefits enrollment process as well as manage benefits eligibility throughout the year. We use it to link to our payroll system to keep deductions up to date and in synch. We also link to the insurance carriers to keep eligibility files up to date with them so billing is as accurate as possile.

Pros

  • We have found that our employees require less assistance with open enrollment or new hire enrollment as the system walks them through the benefit election process in a very simple and straight forward manner
  • Reports available are great. The is a great variety and we can easily make our own when needed.
  • Links with our other systems have worked very well so far.

Cons

  • We are relatively new users of Employee Navigator but so far haven't really run into anything that has been an issue.

Return on Investment

  • We spent about half the time on open enrollment than we did in the last two years. Employee Navigator was much easier for staff to navigate and be able to complete their open enrollment independently
  • We've saved several thousand dollars in setup fees to link with insurance carriers since moving to Employee Navigator

Expert Navigation with Employee Navigator

Pros

  • Time off requests. These are easy to perform and track as an employee and user.
  • Time off approvals. Couldn't be easier. Time of approvals or denials are sent via email and are one-click tasks. Also can be performed in the web UI, but it's so easy.
  • Manager reporting. Managers can easily see reports on employee time off and make decisions based on that.

Cons

  • Sign-in and authorisation. Employee Navigator does not use SSO or integrate with identity platforms like G Suite. As a security measure, we'd prefer not to use a separate username/password and instead default to an identity provider.
  • Visualisation. Employee Navigator has some great views, however reports are the most useful part of the platform as a manager. We'd like to have visualisation on those reports.
  • Department-based reporting. Right now there is no way for a manager to see 2 levels down for approved time -- it only seems to show you your direct reports' time off.

Return on Investment

  • Asset management has reduced device loss and expenses related to replacement or overpurchasing.
  • Time off requests and reports have introduced a method by which we can be alerted if a critical number of team members are not available at once.

Employee Navigator -- Such a Time Saver

Pros

  • On-Boarding -- you key in a few pieces of information, submit, and then in a few minutes, the new hire receives an email with login information.
  • Mobile Friendly.
  • The system notifies you when someone makes changes, so you can review and approve.
  • Very easy to navigate through the system.

Cons

  • Honestly, I haven't found anything that I would improve on, except maybe interfacing with our payroll provider (Certipay).

Return on Investment

  • Very positive impact on the employees -- open enrollment is a breeze! No more paper, and the dependent information is already there, they just have to make updates.
  • From the employer side, you can print off the changes and key them into payroll -- everything is in one place, and so easy to use.
  • The CFO is happy with the no cost, and less downtime with people asking about benefits.

Employee Navigator from an Agency Perspective

Pros

  • Allows for flexible plan configurations
  • Allows employee users to compare plan options and enroll online
  • Provides HR admin/system admin to monitor the status of the enrollment process to ensure employees are completing the required benefits selections

Cons

  • Providing an import or copy option for plan designs and rates would be huge
  • Initial setup is time consuming to build all the plans and validate the accuracy of each

Return on Investment

  • First and foremost, using Employee Navigator has allowed our agency to win/retain our clients
  • For large employers we prefer this online option as it reduces the manpower to process manual enrollment forms
  • Data accuracy is critical in processing enrollments and Employee Navigator ensure that the data input is what is sent to the carriers
