Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I write scholarly publications and reports for federal clients, and EndNote provides streamlined and efficient citation management services for me and my collaborators. The product makes organization of the large numbers of scientific citations easier and saves us time and labor in fixing citations every time we edit a manuscript draft. A secondary use of the software is tracking internal team publications for corporate performance metrics.

EndNote does a great job of working with scientific references and preparing citations for peer-reviewed publications. The tool is also great for generating and placing graphics in scholarly publications. However, in a situation where the reference style does not follow traditional journals or standard formats, or where citation of websites and/or government documents is needed, the program experiences challenges due to the difficulty of generating your own styles.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used in in my previous academic organization (IISER TVM) extensively for my research thesis and work. It is used across my organization. It is very convienient tool to compile and manage enormous bibliographic data for my personal use as well as academic purposes. The add-on tools integrated in EndNote are very convienient and easy to use.

Cons

While finding full text, downloading all PDFs in single folder rather than in each folder will be a betterment.
Auto template updation in the existing library

There are lot of bibliographic compilation softwares in the market but no other product have these extensive tools and options to facilitate the easy of use and effective work done on EndNote. Price wise bit high end but work wise highly effective. Transferring the libraries and accessing on multiple devices also a added advantage in EndNote. The newly enabled synchronisation option was very useful.

We use endnotes for managing references used in writing medical papers. The software offers seamless integration with the Microsoft office word applications. It offers many references formatting styles. You also have an option to access your account and references on their website if using a public network. It is the best reference manager out there.

EndNote is a must-have application if you manage references for any article or paper. You can save references to your own library which syncs online. You can access your library anytime and anywhere. It has seamless integration with Microsoft word in both Windows and Mac computers. I definitely recommend this application!

We use EndNote as our primary citation manager for the writing of research papers, grants, and proposals. EndNote compiles all references into a single library and works with the EndNote word plugin to cite papers, books, etc. while writing and compiles into a bibliography in your selected style.

removing duplicates can be tricky
journal abbreviations are difficult to manage and usually require manual input

EndNote is a great citation manager due to its ability to share and combine several references from different people or documents. It can be a bit tricky to navigate the settings such as style choice and journal abbreviation name list.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The choice of this kind of software relies on the preference of the end-user. I started using EndNote because my supervisor was using it and said that quite a few people in our field are using it. I purchased through the department's computer administration team and have been using it for many years. I've found EndNote to be very convenient.

Cons

It would be nice if it could automatically update bibliographic info for the paper downloaded.
Good reference manual to fully exploit the features
Updating number of citations would help a lot

Probably there are many good features in EndNote that I haven't fully explored. It would be nice to have a good manual to show case-by-case tutorials. It also means that the software is rich in features.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

EndNote is part of our package of software that is used throughout the entire organization. This is used by all of our faculty to address multiple issues when it comes to creating and managing data libraries as well as references. This is also used by those performing large research projects within multiple departments.

Pros

Referencing.
Formatting.

Cons

There have been issues with databases after upgrades but this seems fixed in newer versions.
Corrupt libraries after Word upgrade. Again, seems fixed in new versions

Likelihood to Recommend

EndNote seems to be adept at managing a large number of references in the easiest manner possible. This makes everything very streamlined when it comes to inserting references and creating the actual bibliography. You also have the ability to create rules to help organize and smooth out your workflow so things stay on track.
