Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use eSUB Construction Software to manage our new construction and larger projects within our company. It addresses the problems with keeping track of documentation as well as purchase orders and other internal financial documents. The software is also outward facing so it gives us a little bit of a polish when communicating with our clients.

Pros

RFI management
Change Order management
Submittal management

Cons

Purchase order integration with Quickbooks
keeping track of progress billing or partial billing of PO's and sub vendors
time cards UI is really wonky for daily reports.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are doing any sort of new construction, eSUB is a budget friendly option for managing the process. It's helpful for keeping track of submittals, RFI's and for foreman doing Daily Work Reports. It is not suited really well for plan management and scheduling. The modules for these are not well thought through. Also if you specialize in service work or projects that have short durations (i.e. 1-2 weeks or less), eSUB isn't the best option for you. It would take too long to set up a job vs the time it takes to do the job.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

eSUB has allowed the company to become more organized by utilizing its features to issue, log and track RFIs, CORs, POs etc. The whole company has used this program to help keep track of multiple projects, budgets and submittals. This program has helped us think more stream lined and efficiently by encouraging file and photo organization. It has proven most useful in tracking projects spanning over several months/years.

Pros

It is built with subcontractors in mind. There are many PM software available but this one aims at the commercial subcontractor.
It does a great job covering the basics of typical commercial work. There are areas that allow you to customize such as adding reservations of rights to documents.
It can integrate with Microsoft quite a bit, we use this in our work every day and being able to export or sync data/calendars has been helpful.

Cons

We use Microsoft daily for many things, its an essential program for many areas - the more eSUB can integrate with its core programs the more seamless the transition and daily use.
Its display platform could use a bit more of a face lift. It reminded me of late 2010's web-design or Microsoft visuals.
Its app functionality struggled in some areas, we tried using it but found there to be some bugs. Although IT was very helpful in response.

Likelihood to Recommend

As a subcontractor - yes (overheads are a big deal, this can help manage it by being simple and productive)

As a general contractor - no (I think there are more things a GC would need at their disposal)

If your whole company is on board it can be a powerful tool, but everyone -even site workers, need to be 100% on-board. It can't do what it's supposed to do if only some are using it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use eSUB in our project management department for daily activities such as RFIs, submittals, transmittals, purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders etc. It makes managing and tracking the progress of projects so much easier. Also, it has a great interface with the field as they can log on and see the various activities in real time, no need for separate emails. Any addressee can respond to a document with comments which is immediately forwarded to all parties. Saves a lot of time with multiple emails, copying etc...

Pros

Using multiple contacts over multiple jobs. Vendors, customers, personnel etc...
Sending out RFIs, submittals etc... to multiple people at the same time
Correspondence templates with drop downs makes sending out letters etc... effortless

Cons

I have no suggestions at the moment and if I ever do have a question, concern or suggestion, a quick email to eSUB gets a quick response.

Likelihood to Recommend

eSUB is well suited for contractors on all levels of managing a project and is very user friendly.
