Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use FloQast for our month close reconciliations and checklist. We are implementing it across our operating companies as well for them to use. It syncs with our ERP system and brings in the balances real time which then doesn't allow sign off on recs until the rec matches the balances (within a certain threshold we can set)

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We switched from Blackline to FloQast after struggling to get acceptance to using Blackline. We were looking for a couple of things, month end close tracking with signoffs, all reconciliations in a single location, tracking/progress updates and easy of use. FloQast met those for us. We changed due to Blackline not being as user friendly. FloQast was easy to use since our reconciliations were already in Microsoft Excel.

Pros

Ease of connecting an Excel reconciliation to the general ledger balance
Ease of connecting to our general ledger/multiple ERPs
Ease of setting up and updating checklists

Cons

The ability to cover multiple companies - For example we needed a work around to our intercompany general ledger accounts to balance. FloQast could not compare accounts across multiple companies
Connection to the subledger - There is not a connection directly to the fixed asset subledger to verify that the subledger balance equals the general ledger, indicating it is in balance and can be automatically signed off
Automated reconciliation process - we tried, but it was not granular enough to work accurately so we went back to a manual reconciliation - this is one item Blackline excelled at

Likelihood to Recommend

Connecting Excel reconciliations to the general ledger balance is very easy. All you need to do is an an anchor and it pulls in the reconciliation value to compare to the general ledger value. Sign offs are very easy also. The dashboard that shows status if very nice to see where you are and it allows you to drill in and look at the late or uncompleted reconciliations or checklist items. As stated earlier, the biggest drawback is handling multiple companies and intercompany. There is not a way to connect intercompany accounts across all companies and identify if you net to zero or not. We had to do some custom creation to make this happen.

We use FloQast to manage our monthly close process and also to track, manage and consolidate all of our world wide balance sheet recons. FloQast helps us stay on track of what is on schedule and what is needing attention to get to our timeline goal.

Likelihood to Recommend

FloQast does a good job of managing the day to day closing process. Also excels on reconciliations and managing the lists of what needs to be done and who is on schedule and who is behind. It does not do as well on consolidation and adding multiple companies and currencies together.

We use FQ to help manage the close, recons, and other processes. FQ helps provide a checklist for close than makes sure no step is missed. It helps with the recon process. It also helps with SEC and regulatory reporting, listing all the required workbooks and evidencing review and approval of workbooks.

The tags are a bit hard to remember when starting out
Recurring tasks that happen quarterly, but a month prior to QE, are not the easiest to setup.
Subledger mapping seems to be difficult to do.

Likelihood to Recommend

FQ works really well for recons, and it helps with close management. It does have some assumptions about how the process should work. For example, there isn't a very good way to mark an item as having comments open for the preparer to review. Additionally, tasks that are recurring, but not in QE are a bit hard to set up. Otherwise, the software works really well.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have 10 operating companies and it's been very difficult to track the status on everybody's month-end close. FloQast has been a huge help for us in this regard, because we can very easily go in and see how each company is progressing, and allows us real-time visibility into what roadblocks people are running into and how we can support them.

Month-end close - very easy to track the status
Organization - very easy to locate documents and reconciliations pertaining to a particular account
Preparer/Reviewer - very easy to tell who is assigned which tasks.

Cons

Honestly not much, I really enjoy using it and it's been a huge timesaver!

Likelihood to Recommend

Very good for managing month-end close, especially with multiple subsidiaries. Very helpful, especially with lots of team members across the country, in being able to track where everything is at, how each team member is progressing in their tasks, etc. Might not be as helpful for a small team, but even then I could still see it being beneficial.

We use FloQast to help with our close process. FloQast has assisted with controls, transparency & accuracy. We currently use FloQast to complete reconciliations and checklist items each month. The platform is easy to use, updates quickly and is overall an effective platform to help us reach our goals. Prior to implementing FloQast we completed our reconciliations in excel and spent a lot of time completing this task across all accounts each month. I credit FloQast with our team reaching a 4.5 day close.

It is clear that FloQast was created by accountants for accountants. The ease of use is excellent. It is great for keeping track of all your monthly checklist items, reconciliations and ongoing projects. We could use FloQast in more areas and I hope we do in the future.

My company uses FloQast to manage our close process. We use the checklists and reconciliation function. We assign items to users as preparers and reviewers. FloQast links to our accounting ERP and automatically updates they balances when refreshed. We also house our reconciliation schedules in FloQast allowing us to quickly tie out and sign off on account balances once reconciled. We also utilize the notes function.

Pros

the dashboard and UI is easy to use
It has good integration, for example it's compatible with slack for notifications
Quick notifications when an account goes out of balance.

Cons

Automatic refresh when looking at reconciliations. Currently we need to manually refresh each time
The notes function. When a note is unassigned it is automatically closed. We must reopen if we want to leave an open note
FloQast Remind used to be easily accessible from the FloQast site, but now it doesn't seem like I can access it from FloQast

It is a great tool to centralize and manage the close process. Before my company used FloQast we were managing our close using excel spreadsheets. The whole team has visibility on the progress of checklist items, reconciliations, and open notes.
FloQast is not good at helping identify what is driving a variance in a reconciliation that is still a manual process.

FloQast helped us significantly reduce the number of days it took us to close the books. We started out just using the Close checklist and reconcilations and now multiple departments have built out checklists in the system to help streamline and track their recurring tasks and deliverables.

It is the best tool for tracking reconciliations, tasks and flux analysis. FloQast helps to track your tasks and monthly reconciliations in a very easy and efficient manner. It also helps set deadlines on tasks which are time sensitive.It saves time and all reconciliation activity for multiple entities can be viewed in one place by management. I think reminder email for flux analysis is not sent even if someone is assigned to a particular task. Also, out-of-balance recons need to be notified to the owner in real time.
