We use GoCo for all of our new hire onboarding tasks, our yearly health/dental benefits enrollment, our hourly time tracking, and our vacation/sick time accrual and usage, as well as our payroll/tax processing. It is a one-stop tool for completing all of these needs with ease and efficiency.
Pros
Ease in time tracking entry
Understandable Vacation and Sick time usage and balance
Detailed paystub information
Quick and accurate payroll/tax processing
Cons
We would like to have the option of editing our payroll before it is fully processed (prior to the deadline times) without having to contact a GoCo associate to pull the information back to us.
Streamlining the number of 'clicks' it takes to move through the payroll process.
Allow more ease in tracking unpaid time.
Likelihood to Recommend
GoCo is a complete package that meets our needs for hiring onboarding and payroll processing. The platform is well suited for both hourly and salaried employees and allows for many options based on work schedules and PTO accrual. It is an intuitive platform and has increased our efficiency with payroll processing and benefits selection.

I am the controller for a non-profit who uses GoCo. I love how quickly we can onboard and offboard employees and delegate the workflows related to those processes within GoCo. New employees fill out everything in one spot, and then I go there when updating our payroll - I love having one spot for all the information and forms.
Pros
Workflow delegation
org chart
Cons
I don't have any & and I know we are not using all the features available to us.
Likelihood to Recommend
I've recommended GoCo to several accounting colleagues who are looking for HR management solutions for their business or their clients. It's the only tool I've found that is as comprehensive.

We use GoCo primarily for benefits administration. We also use the payroll sync feature to have any benefit deduction changes updated in our payroll system. GoCo has made it easy and seamless for employees to have access to a self-service benefits administration tool. We have also benefitted from using the workflows feature within the tool to ensure we are not missing any steps when onboarding or offboarding an employee.
Pros
Fast responses from customer service
Automated workflows
Payroll sync
Cons
allow users to operate the tool as only a benefits admin tool (do not require employees to fill out tax info when onboarding, since we do not use goco for payroll)
Payroll function needs to be improved in order to compete with industry giants such as paychex and adp.
Likelihood to Recommend
I can only speak to GoCo's benefits administration tools. We chose not to go with GoCo for payroll as it is not as seamless of a process as other payroll providers. You have to go to an external site to process the payroll and it cannot be completed within the same GoCo platform. The payroll turnaround time is also much slower than other companies like Paychex and ADP who can offer same-day direct deposit and real-time payments.

We use GoCo as out main HR platform. I am in it daily for most HR functions. It addresses onboarding, document retention, time keeping, employee accomplishments and areas for improvement. Love magic docs.
Pros
Magic Docs
Onboarding
Easy to use
Cons
Customizing our time tracking export
Permissions can be tricky and I wish there were some ways to customize a bit more
Customizing time tracking - all Sunday hours are 1.5X, things like that
Being able to edit PTO in time tracking so finalizing time sheets ban be done in one screen
Adjusting PTO to automatically not go over 40 hours

I have recommended GoCo and know of at least one company that chose it as their solution. I think for any small-medium size company it would be helpful.
We use GoCo as our HRIS and electronic employee record. We started using GoCo when we went fully remote as a company and needed a secure way to save employee data, onboard employees, complete benefits enrollment, and get electronic signatures.
Pros
Benefits enrollment! We've received compliments on how easy it is to enroll each year in benefits.
New hire onboarding. All information is sent to new hires and they can seamlessly enter their information and read and sign all documents and agreements.
For the most part, the reports are easy to configure and use.
Cons
Work flows are confusing. I also wish there was a package that allowed two workflows instead of just one or unlimited.
There isn't a place to store EEOC information. We have to report on this annually and the system should be sophisticated enough to store and report on this, since they're standard forms. Instead, we're piecing together custom fields and sorting spreadsheets.
Document storage, destruction, and requests are clunky. There is no way to store uploaded documents other than in a folder named "uploaded." I wish we could sort files how we want. Also, after we no longer need to retain I-9 documents, there should be a way to automatically delete them, or at least send us a reminder. Finally, getting employees to upload documents is confusing.

It's great for a small company who needs an easy way to save employee data. It's harder to use if you have complex needs or compliance. I often find I know more about HR-related things than our customer support representative, and they're unable to share how GoCo will comply with legal changes.
Prior to GoCo everything was paper. We have several locations across 5 states that this now allows us to streamline some processes in our 12 different locations especially since I am a department of one. This has made things much better. I am looking for additional ways that GoCo can assist.
Pros
Time keeping
Documents
Workflows
Cons

Setup went well. I liked the support model at the time of implementation. It has changed over time and although it is not the same model and I much prefer the original model, they have tried to adjust. I still would prefer the direct contact with account rep vs contacting support.
We moved from a completely manual HR/Payroll process to 80% online HR/Payroll process! GoCo has helped us streamline our processes and has made it easier for staff to keep track of their time and to request time off.
Pros
Support staff is ready to respond with any questions I have.
Communication about new offerings and ways to make things easier is great.
Site is very user friendly and easy to find what I'm/staff is looking for.
Cons
For the size of our organization and GoCo being our first digital platform, we have not run into many issues.
One thing I do wish we could have is the ability for our staff to clock in at one campus and clock out at a different campus (we have three separate campuses). To my knowledge we are not able to do this yet.

For a small organization with a limited budget, GoCo is the perfect platform to get started with. For time tracking, time off requests, and as an HRIS, GoCo is perfect.
GoCo is our Ben admin system and links into execupay for payroll. It’s a good system overall but their customer service has lately gone down hill. We tried to apply for the Employee retention tax credit through them and they didn’t actually file it despite us filling out the paperwork several times.
Pros
User interface
Implementation
Ease of use
Cons
Customer service
Compliance

This is a great product for a small company. For a large group, it’s probably less well suited. Overall small business will like the ease of use and convenience of the product. A large business would need better reporting functionality and probably a better payroll system. Execupay is a little clunky.
We utilize GoCo to manage our HR needs. It has an amazing onboarding process that allows us to effectively serve new employees and manage existing staffing.
Pros
Onboarding new employees
Managing staff PTO
Managing signing critical documents and policies
Cons
Handling exceptions for staff PTO requests for employees in their 90 day probationary period
Ease of managing different hourly work week exceptions

We have really enjoyed using GoCo for our HR needs. It has suited us well after we switched from Zenefits. Initially we did not have good support with the rep from One Digital who served as our GoCo broker partner. However, we have a new rep who has been very responsive and helpful when employees have had benefit questions or issues with coverage.
