We are utilizing GoGuardian Admin for filtering students on the internet. GoGuardian Admin allows me to delegate certain admins to control certain organizational units and only those. The building administrators can block or unblock websites without my assistance. Additionally, they can easily see student history. They have started to use the parent reports during student-parent meetings to help illustrate what the student is doing during the day. We currently do no have any of the parent features enabled, though.
Pros
Simple interface
Specific user roles
Easy-to-use reporting
Great tool to check filtering for a site
Lots of customization
Cons
Some false flags for explicit content
Better notification emails for flags
Stronger filtering for YouTube
Likelihood to Recommend
GoGuardian Admin took the pressure off of IT to deal with filtering and gave control to the building admin. No longer does IT have to check if the website is appropriate or if the building principal wants to allow it. They take care of it on their own! Put ownership of internet use back on the building admin instead of IT, since it was always a classroom management problem, not a technology problem.

We use GoGuardian Admin to filter the content on student's Chromebooks. GoGuardian Admin ensures we are able to keep our students safe online by using machine learning and artificial intelligence for content filtering along with traditional allow and blocklists. The system analyzes what is on the screen, regardless of the URL. If the content is inappropriate, it is blocked, and a message is sent to my team. We are able to set different levels of filtering based on OU. We have the ability to filter the devices both on campus and off. Our team is also able to see what sites students are visiting. This is amazing for understanding how Chromebooks are being used and for dealing with cases of academic dishonesty. Additionally, GoGuardian Admin is able to detect when students are searching/viewing content related to self-harm/suicide ideation. Alerts are triggered in those instances as well. Lastly, GG Admin is essential when tracking lost or stolen devices. The system makes it incredibly easy to locate a device the minute it comes online.
Pros
Content Filtering : On and Off Campus
Device Tracking & Locating
URL History
Cons
The system cannot inform our team about cyber bullying or harassment.
Students can still play some games if those games are loaded to a Google Site.
There are times when a Chromebook that hasn't been restarted in a while will not show up online. This is problematic as students do not restart as much as they should.

GoGuardian is excellent for any district with a 1:1 Chromebook program. Our program would not be nearly as successful without it. GoGuardian does work with other devices (Windows, iPads) but I believe some features do not work as well in those setups. We haven't tried using it for anything other than Chromebooks and I am not aware of anyone using it for iPad/Windows or Macs.

We have used GoGuardian for a handful of implementations—student device monitoring, web filtering and monitoring, and network filtering. We have tried out a few different companies and solutions in the past years and the end goal is to find one company/product that can do it all.
Pros
Cloud filtering assures we don't need to maintain our own server.
Nice monitoring dashboard.
Cons
UI is still not perfect but is useable.
Reports are not always as specific as we'd like.
Likelihood to Recommend
GoGuardian is really good at alerting us when students use devices inappropriately or when flags (self-harm, abuse, explicit content) come up on their devices. Obviously, you still need to have a plan in place for when those things come up so they can be properly addressed.

Our entire organization uses GoGuardian Admin. The problems that GoGuardian addresses are the filtering of student devices as it pertains to explicit content as well as self-harm. We are a 1 to 1 chromebook school so each student has their own device which they take home each day and bring with them to class, which means we need constant filtering of their devices.
Pros
Filtering
Prevents cheating
Improves academic learning
Cons
Filtering
Tracking Devices
UI Transition
Likelihood to Recommend
GoGuardian Admin is perfect for any school looking to deploy a 1 to 1 setting where students take chromebooks home or if they travel from classroom to classroom with them. It would not be needed at home or in the business world or schools that have chromebooks but do not travel from room to room.

We use GoGuardian Admin across our whole organization. The Admin portion is the interface piece that allows you to make content policy changes in the GoGuardian Admin filtering software. Since GoGuardian Admin is a cloud filtering solution, we use it to filter devices both on-premises and off-campus. This makes it incredibly easy for users to make that transition without changing settings or being inconvenienced. We use it for Chrome OS devices only. They have since added the ability to use the software for Windows machines. This is not something we have taken advantage of at this time.
Pros
The reporting Dashboard page gives you a great picture of what your users are doing on the internet.
The Theft recovery piece works very well and helps recover devices that are missing in action.
Cons
The reports are almost too broad.
Intuitive things like clicking on a URL in the top-visited section does not drill down into who was visiting that website.

GoGuardian Admin is an excellent piece of software for anyone that is in a Google environment with a large number of Chrome devices. The ease of configuration and deployment is incredible. The software itself can be deployed in about 5 minutes. It is as simple as pushing out an extension and then building your policies. My favorite part of the software (probably because it solves a ridiculous problem) is the Youtube filtering piece. Finally, I have a product that can tackle the Youtube problem. Allowing and blocking Youtube videos is super easy. All videos are categorized (according to the Youtube video categories). For organizations trying to utilize the appropriate parts of Youtube without allowing all the extraneous stuff, this is huge.
We use GoGuardian to monitor student activities on our school network. It can blacklist and whitelist sites to manage student access to content as well as the location of devices. Filtering is effective, and working in conjunction with the teacher product helps to keep our students on task.
Pros
Web filtering
Data analysis and feedback
Device management
Cons
Terminology is not always clear
User management can be awkward
The interface needs to be streamlined
Likelihood to Recommend
Great for a G-suite environment as it is easily set up. The site traffic data is useful to monitor trends and the filtering alerts help to keep students focused or even get help in extreme cases.
We utilize GoGuardian Admin as an additional layer of management and web filtering for our entire Chromebook fleet. This allows us to put some of the control of content filtering into the hands of individual teachers/programs, so that they can make decisions at any given moment on what websites should be able to be utilized by their students. We also have global policies in-place for no-nonsense types of things that students shouldn't have access to regardless of program.
Pros
Web Filtering
Chromebook Livefeed/Monitoring
GoGuardian Admin technical support is fantastic, and is always available
Ease of creating individual policies based on Google Admin Console OU
Cons
With the new Minnesota state laws regarding student data privacy - it made it somewhat challenging for us to continue utilizing GoGuardian Admin. However, they provided some updates to their software to address these issues.
GoGuardian Admin recently put out an option to checkbox COPPA/CIPA compliance verifications for web filtering. It seems that this still needs some work, as several educational websites we utilize are coming up as "uncategorized" - and then are being falsely flagged and declining access.
Likelihood to Recommend
GoGuardian Admin has been a fantastic tool for my team to leverage maintaining over a thousand deployed chromebooks district-wide. That said, it's not perfect. It seemingly works better if you manually control access to needed websites - rather than the newly released COPA compliance model, as several websites are incorrectly blocked. But I have faith that these issues will be addressed and remedied in due time.
