We make use of Google Cloud Speech-to-Text as an integration to convert speech into text in our bot flow for real-time recognition of customer spoken audio for a live call. Pros

  • Multiple language support.
  • Speech to text conversion is extremely accurate.
  • Handling of busy surroundings without a need to have additional noise cancellation.
  • Very easy to integrate with third party self service solutions.

Cons

  • Doesn't work well with low bandwidth connections.
  • Pricing is a bit on a higher side.

We have used it extensively in our chatbots for handling web chats & we see a very positive outcome as it accurately converts speech to text. The fact that it supports more than 125 languages does come in very handy for our contact center operations. I use Google Cloud speech-to-text to create blog content faster than I would if I manually typed these posts. It also helps me capture my thoughts after meetings.

Pros

  • Capture speech quickly.
  • Create content on the go.
  • Great customer support.

Cons

  • Occasionally mishears text.
  • Not free.
  • Non english and slang words are hard for it to capture.

Likelihood to Recommend

Google Cloud Speech to Text is extremely useful for capturing insights quickly and efficiently. It is pretty accurate and good at capturing volume ( I am pretty loud, but I've captured insights from co-workers who are quieter with no issues). However, it does not work offline, so it is hard to use when in a remote area or with limited connectivity.

Writing emails allows me to multitask.

Pros

  • Speech recognition.
  • Plenty of minutes per month.
  • Accuracy with accents.

Cons

  • Large amounts of data take longer.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's great for quick transcription for an email or while I'm on the go for appointments and clients. If I'm writing a longer report, it's easier to dump all my thoughts typing instead of speaking, but I can still find it helpful if I'm unable to type for long periods.
