We came to Grist from Monday.com. Grist is a clean layout and not cluttered. The ease of use is great and it's to the point. There are some areas that are not right out of the box easy to use, such as their formulas and python coding. However, they will help you achieve what you need. Amazing customer service. They not only showed me an example of what I was looking for but explained step by step how to get there. Which in return teaches me about their software. You will need some patience for this is not a quick and go type of spreadsheet software. But no worries, it can get the job done. Thank you, Grist :)

I am using it in the place where I'd use a comprehensive spreadsheet or database. Generally, it's used by myself only, however, another staff member will use it to check data. It's helping me have the data in small enough sets using the widgets, but also having it all linked in the tables so that I can see or find any info that is needed quickly. In the past, finding and storing this info has been challenging, but has been made simple with Grist. I also use it on a personal level to track mood/health as this impacts on my day to day work also.
Pros
Linked data tables so you can use the info in whatever way you'd like
Ability to use python to create formulas that get what you need - And support for using python in the user support forum
Widgets and new pages can help you display the info however it is needed
Cons
Making the user permissions more obvious on how to use them - They are highly adaptable, but hard to understand how to use them
Small changes such as auto colouring the choices/toggles options and being able to edit them once set.
Being able to copy the formatting from one column to the next

This is well suited to someone (or a team) who are technically minded and have a dataset that they need to be able to use in many ways. It's less appropriate for a team who isn't technically minded and/or don't have the data they need to manipulate. It would be useful for things that you could use a database or spreadsheet for such as CRM, Advertising database, Business tracking, Health tracking etc.
