Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were looking for an interactive dashboard for API and IBM Cognos Dashboard Embedded helped us at right time. The team was able to develop the dashboard quickly and had a demo with the client to understand the insights.

  • Easy to learn and apply in real time projects.
  • Multiple query can be combined to generate simple and easy to understand reports.
  • Mobile access feature helps to integrate with multiple devices.

Cons

  • Cross browser compatibility.
  • Expensive.
  • User roles are not simple.

  • Dashboard creating very quick and intuitive.
  • Good alternative for tableau or power BI.
  • Cognos is used for operational reporting and analytics and schedule reports to be sent via email to users on a duly basis. Used in mobile as well.

  • Cognos 11 comes with all the latest features expected in a BI tool, the graph generations, and story buildings as well as predictions.
  • Investment in Cognos R&D by IBM is declining. Won't work smoothly with large data sets having many parameters. Cross-browser compatibility is often problematic.
  • Extensive features, vast ability to access, mine and report on data.
