Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use JobBOSS to produce certifications after a part has been inspected. The product gives us the paper trail to our inspection services that we give to our customer who make aerospace parts and has to prove that parts have been inspected to be safe for use in flight safety.

Pros

  • tracks where the job is in the inspection process
  • Keeps track of open jobs
  • gives us certifications to give to our customers

  • being able to purchase program without having a limited number of seats

  • Job tracking is great and convenient to know where in the inspection process the part is
  • Templates so much easier to use then typing everything out

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

JobBOSS is an essential software solution at our company utilized across multiple departments including sales, accounting, shipping and purchasing. It is vital for our sales records, customer records, inventory, A/P & A/R functions. The ease of use and customization is also key to our success when implementing JobBOSS across our organization.

  • Customization can prove to be somewhat of a challenge to implement, but support always jumps in to assist if needed
  • Can be somewhat slow/glitchy at times

JobBoss for Midsize Manufacturing/Job Shops

Pros

  • It's scheduling module works well for "Job Shop" style manufacturing and scales to larger production runs.
  • The ability to create routings and assemblies, as well as templates, allowed us to consolidate several excel spreadsheets per job into a single place. Getting everything into one spot really saves time and helps minimize mistakes that can occur from working in multiple files.
  • The remote workstations on the floor are helping us achieve our goal of paper reduction, and with real time changes we don't need to go out and collect outdated paperwork from the floor.
  • The accounting system is robust and works well.

Cons

  • The reporting is through Crystal Reports which is cumbersome to work with and requires someone who knows what they are doing. If you're moving from something like Quickbooks with built in report editing, you're going to be frustrated with creating custom reports.
  • If you run mutliple jobs on a single machine or use multi-pallet machines scheduling can get frustrating, and you will have to come up with your own solutions to schedule those machines. (This is not unique to JobBOSS scheduling. We tested several ERP systems in this range and most were lacking in this area).
  • Even with the 12.0 update, the interface is still rather dated for the onsite version. The online version looks much better.

Return on Investment

  • We were using several pieces or software that have all been replaced by just JobBOSS. Inventory, routings, inspections, floor tracking, accounting are now all in a single place.
  • It helped us to reorganize our document server and consolidate files. Its ability to link files has created an environment where nearly every piece of information on an order can be found in a centralized single location.
  • The quoting module has improved our decision making and ability to see where we were right or wrong on costing.

  • Inventory control.
  • Travelers or job sheets that keep track of operations.

Cons

  • Better label printing support.
  • Timekeeping alerts to management when there are huge discrepancies.

  • Paid for itself over and again with our complete shop management.
  • Payroll couldn't get any easier.
