What is TargetX, from Liaison?

TargetX, now from Liaison (acquired October, 2020) is a CRM for higher education institutions. It's built on the Salesforce.com development platform, tailored for student recruitment and retention. It also includes instant messaging (UChat) and the ability to build communities for particular classes/groups of students (Schools App).

TargetX is a great value and offers a full suite!

Cons

  • Acquisition by Liaison has decreased customer/account support
  • Native SMS is not fully capable
  • Moving products from 3rd party (like Conga Connect) to internal (TargetX Print) has decreased capability.

  • Knowledgeable tech support.
  • Salesforce is everywhere - very easy to get support and how to do thing.

Good solution with a hidden gem

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TargetX is a more comprehensive solution for Enrollment Management in Higher Ed users of Salesforce. It provides a full suite solution versus the basic architecture provided by the free EDA solution. It essentially makes Salesforce a LOT more useful to recruiting arms of Higher Ed schools than it would be out of the box.

TargetX, A Great Higher Ed CRM

Pros

  • Addresses the higher education infrastructure to integrate Salesforce
  • Email marketing is done at huge cost savings over other marketing platforms in Salesforce
  • Helps facilitate events on an off-campus
  • Helps our admissions counselors keep up on tasks and contacts

Cons

  • When sending large volumes of email the campaigns can be slow to send
  • The events functions are not as robust as some of the competition
  • Their telemarketing component has not been updated in a while and leaves a bit for current call centers.

Return on Investment

  • We have saved a great deal of money on email campaigns with over half a million contacts
  • Managing of on-campus event registration has been very successful for us.
  • By creating a call center using their Telemarketing component we have been able to increase our enrollment for a number of programs
