Perfect solution for sending transactional emails for e-commerce order status

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) primarily for all the transactional emails throughout the ordering processing journey from pickup to order delivered to customer. For more context, our business is around handling logistics for SMEs and we had to notify the end customers about their order status at all the touch points so that they are aware about their ordered item. In this case, we used Mailchimp Transactional Email (Mandrill) to send transactional emails at each status including picking up the item from client's location to doing end delivery or missed deliveries/reschedules etc.

Pros

  • Delivery % of emails is great
  • API Integration is super simple
  • In-depth analytics to understand what's working or what could be improved

Cons

  • Not a missing feature but few more details in analytics could be better but overall it does the job.
  • Pricing could be slightly better considering there are lot of options now

Return on Investment

  • Positive impact was reduction in support tickets by customers support
  • Not directly on the revenue goals but it helped in improving our CSAT & NPS of clients
  • Later order status updates to end customers also become our value proposition in our sales pitch

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I generally use mail chimp for creating email campaigns and running them for the lead generation, promotions, conducting webinars, and use for our prospective customers. It is easy to use and has a variety of themes and types of campaigns to choose from. The best of the tool is we can easily get the output of the campaign which helps us to choose which plan can be stuck on.

  • It has a good interface and user experience
  • It is easy to create a template choosing a variety of themes and options.
  • We can have easy out put of a particular campaign.
  • Any user can adjust it easily.

Cons

  • There is nothing that needs to be improved but it has to take care of its price where it is some what higher than its competitors.
  • Where it can also makes some themes and options for the paid users more flexibly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Mailchimp Transactional Email Mandrill to send all of our transactional emails for our fitness studios. These emails include receipts, booking reservation confirmations/cancellations, class notices, etc. We use it in conjunction with our booking and reservation platform Marian tek for our fitness studios.

  • Creating templates is done with html, would be easier with a better interface ie drag and drop.

Pros

  • Mandrill's interface is simple to navigate and very intuitive.
  • Domain masking is very simple to set-up and the verification process is fast.

Cons

  • Our system adds a notification when a donor has opened an email; however, we've found inconsistencies with the system where a donor may have opened an email, but Mandrill hasn't sent that notification to our app.
  • For the scenario above, when we've reached out to their support, the response has been that it is what it is. I'd like to see the supports take be focusing on improving the platform rather than saying it is what it is.

  • It's added a main feature our customers need, which is automatic confirmation emailing.
  • It's allowed our app to send schedule reports to users, which is crucial to them managing their nonprofit and core feature prospects look for.
