Microsoft Powerpoint is here to create your next GREAT PRESENTATION

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Microsoft Powerpoint for sooooo many things. Not only do I use it to make presentations, but I also use it to make newsletters (so much less annoying formatting than in Microsoft Word), movie posters for upcoming safety training, flyers, brochures, and so much more.

I have been using Microsoft Powerpoint for the last 28 years. Some of the improvements have actually helped speed up the time it takes me to design a presentation. Plus, they have so many free templates inside Microsoft Powerpoint. The "Designer tab" is a must, no matter if you are new to graphic design or if you have been doing it for years!

You can change the orientation (portrait to landscape) with a click of a button.

Another really cool feature is that Microsoft has FINALLY made adding YouTube videos a snap. Plus, you have many more controls over how the video plays (automatically, loop, and full screen). In the past, if you clicked on the link, it would open up your local browser, and then you had to watch ads and maximize to fit the screen. Trust me, it was a pain in the butt to have to do that. Now, in Microsoft Powerpoint, all you have to do is click on the insert tab, navigate to the video, click on the down arrow, select online video, and paste the hyperlink to the video. It is that easy. I'm still trying to figure out how they avoid ads.

Pros

  • Create great presentations
  • Helps you to design each slide
  • You can rehearse your timings (if you have an allotted time to present)
  • You can provide individual animations to each slide (something Prezi cannot do!)
  • You can add 3D images from Microsoft's library
  • The formatting is the most user friendly in the Microsoft Office platform
  • Stock images

Cons

  • The YouTube link DOES NOT work as advertised. Every video will more than likely have ads you have to click skip. I just edited the video with my snipping tool
  • More templates
  • More design options
  • More font recommendations

Likelihood to Recommend

The learning curve with Microsoft Powerpoint is not too steep, and most everyone can create really nice-looking presentations. The thing I like most about the new advancements in Microsoft Powerpoint comes to formatting. If you are creating a newsletter, don't get bogged down by all of the annoying formatting rules and issues you would have if creating in Publisher or Word. Microsoft Powerpoint makes it very simple. You can add text boxes and move them anywhere on the page.

The templates are a nice touch, but they could use more, as most of these are outdated. I believe there are many free websites for downloading more templates.

Microsoft Powerpoint helps us create striking presentations and awards ceremonies

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Microsoft Powerpoint is used for the presentations that matter most in our business. When I need a slideshow that makes an impact, I'll use Microsoft Powerpoint over Google Slides, for example. In particular, I use for awards presentations. I organise a couple of major awards ceremonies and Microsoft Powerpoint helps me handle the on-stage presentation with ease. We can embed images and videos, use effective transitions and attach music if needed. It's easily controllable and widely used by the AV industry meaning we can be confident that whatever our awards ceremony, we'll be able to use Microsoft Powerpoint.

Pros

  • Enables easy embedding of pictures, videos and music.
  • Handles transitions between slides easily
  • Allows you to copy slides to give you a head start on new slides where you want similar formatting.
  • Allows you to test your presentation and time it.

Cons

  • The automatically generated designs are hit and miss. Sometimes they work, but often they don't. Better automation would be helpful
  • Easy integration of live social media feeds would be an interesting addition.
  • Connection to stock music library options would be useful.

Likelihood to Recommend

Microsoft Powerpoint is ideal for delivery company presentations where you want to convey information in a visually striking way - one that use images, video, graphics, sound or tables for example. It's easy to build a slide deck and add different elements, duplicate or remove slides, re-order them and then spin through them to focus on those that matter during your presentation. It's also well suited to awards ceremonies where you have an AV controller handling the music to fade in and out at the right moment. It's less suited to awards ceremonies where you are the sole controller, as there is less flexibility than you might want over sound.

MS Power Point-Great Use for Presentations.

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to provide a guide and training of our employee benefits to new employees. We explained all our company benefits using MS PowerPoint, and the slides are nice visualizations that will help them remember what was discussed during the training process. It is a great guide and tool, and the ease of use is very, very nice.

Pros

  • Ease of adding or removing inserted photos or images.
  • Ease of set up with bullet points.
  • Ease of use with visualization.

Cons

  • There is an issue with saving the file once changes are made. A save has to be done.
  • I think involving more AI with ease of use on structure of the Powerpoint Presentation.
  • Also AI to help with wording and grammar.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited in bullet point presentations that are quick, simple, and to the point. It is not so much for any policy or procedure set us. It's more for visualization because, for some, it's easier to retain what the subject was about with a great image or visual of the presentation.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization allows us to access the entire Microsoft 365 package which means we have access to Microsoft word, Excel, Powerpoint etc. In our organization, we use Microsoft Powerpoint to prepare presentations, helping in management strategies, communicate assessments and providing visual aids to stakeholders.

For my use case, being a Software Developer responsible for designing and developing web applications, I use Microsoft Powerpointto craft presentations for detailing objectives, communicating timelines and going over resource requirements. At the same time, it helps in summarizing technical information into digestible slides for a diverse set of audiences. Most of the Knowledge Transfer sessions which i conduct are also done using Microsoft Powerpoint.

Pros

  • Microsoft Powerpoint allows to choose from a host of templates and themes which makes it really easy to use. With the new suggestion feature, this feature has become even more powerful and helpful
  • The User Interface of Microsoft Powerpoint is quite advanced when compared to other tools in the market such as Google slides
  • I really enjoy how easy it is to integrate media within the slides and format them for visual aid

Cons

  • The formatting tools can be better places. Right now they are a little scattered throughout the UI
  • Microsoft Powerpoint lacks the ability to draw within the slides. Its often easier to use tools like draw.io and import images
  • Apart from the suggested templates, its hard to find new templates. It is less intuitive and suggestion tool, although is pretty powerful, but can be improved

Likelihood to Recommend

Some specific scenarios where Microsoft Powerpoint is very well suited is giving Knowledge Transfer sessions or conducting workshops. It helps to intuitively organize information logically which facilitates in better understanding. At the same time, it is easy to incorporate hyper-links and questionnaires into the slides, making it easy to involve users.

Microsoft Powerpoint really makes it hard to present/add detailed information into the slides, making it look ugly. Any scenarios where detailed information needs to be presented is really hard with Microsoft Powerpoint.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently use Microsoft Powerpoint for creating both in person and remote presentations and learning material. We have paired this product with Ispring which allows us to design interactive and responsive training courses that we can present to an LMS through Scorm files. We also use Microsoft Powerpoint to plan and narrate some of our course material finally exporting this as an MP4. This has been universally easy, and Microsoft Powerpoint is a program that most of the people we work with also have access to.

Pros

  • Page layout
  • Media Insertion
  • Presenter interactions
  • Compatibility with Plugins

Cons

  • Recording of Audio for presentations
  • Application of Colour Schemes
  • A way to turn of layout designer permanently

Likelihood to Recommend

Microsoft Powerpoint is well suited for creating presentations, slideshows and we have used it to create front of house video files using the animation and export to mp4 settings. It is not appropriate when people use it in place of a desktop publishing platform like publisher or for long documents when word would be more appropriate.

PowerPoint the powerhouse of training

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I currently use Microsoft Powerpoint when I am developing training modules for our company. Whether it is instructor led or web-based, the training is made much more user friendly for the instructors and interactive for the students. Plus it has the added bonus of being able to create images and animations that can be used with other software in a wide variety of applications - especially simulations.

Pros

  • Animations
  • Graphic editing
  • Audio and video inclusion

Cons

  • The "remove background" feature could be a bit more user friendly - it tends to take up too much space and you're forced to start over and over again and take smaller areas to adjust which takes up quite a bit of time.
  • I could use some more design templates with less feminine features like flowers and swirls. More industry-themed ones would be great to use.
  • More adaptability to the "slide master" selection. It is extremely laborious to change each slide generated from the master slide.

Likelihood to Recommend

Microsoft PowerPoint is well suited for creating projects to use with other software such as Captivate or Articulate 360 in order to create web-based content for training modules. It is less well suited if you have to use different-sized slides for your presentation, it tends to skew the next slide in the project.

Microsoft PowerPoint, the unbeatable software in the presenting field.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My personal way of using Microsoft PowerPoint: To present digital documents. There are rich features within the software: I can choose between multiple templates to pick the one that suits the project that I’ll be presenting, I can go offline to keep working on my projects without having to find an internet hotspot, or I can simply take advantage of the various font colors in a well-done ergonomy which makes the navigation very fluid.

It’s time to upgrade the product so that it can catch the graphic designing trend. Canva, or Adobe Spark (to just name those) are already leading this particular market. Can you think about a scenario where PowerPoint can ally its presentation side with the possibility for designers to create and release their works out? Sometimes we face this problem in our company; because some of our clients are artists and they only can send us their work through Adobe or Canva. It’d be better to let them customize their arts through Microsoft PowerPoint too.

Overall, this is a good and reliable software to use, because not only does it has an uncatchable amount of features, it is most importantly secure. I’ve been using this product for years, both personally and in my professional career. I can confidently recommend it to anyone to buy it. You won’t find a product of this caliber when it comes to presenting. Whether you use it as an individual, a small business, or a big company; you’ll be pleased by it.

Pros

  • Choosing between multiple templates
  • Going offline to keep working on my projects without having to find an internet hotspot
  • taking advantage of the various font colors in a well-done ergonomy which makes the navigation very fluid
  • Being able to work remotely presenting a given project to different geo-located members

Cons

  • The software must be upgraded to enable designers to customize their arts like in Canva or Adobe Spark.
  • Files must be automatically saved as we're working.
  • Reduce the bugs as much as possible.

Likelihood to Recommend

Many features that PowerPoint has gave me (and still doing so) a good experience: I feel safe using it because it has been around since 1987, I can choose between multiple templates to pick the one that suits the project that I’ll be presenting, I can go offline to keep working on my projects without having to find an internet hotspot, or I can simply take advantage of the various font colors in a well-done ergonomy which makes the navigation very fluid.

The things that are missing with this software are: A possibility to auto-save our work, enabling artists to work and customize their arts just like they can do it on some tier-softwares such as Canva or Adobe Spark.

It's my old, trusty stand by!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I created and maintain an hour-long presentation that we use for all new hires in our company. I personally onboard 35-50 new hires a year. I chose this platform because of its ease of use and ability to integrate several media applications for a full sensory experience. This includes high-resolution photos, videos, and audio clips.

Pros

  • Its consistency across all updates.
  • Integration of media
  • Ability to use alongside other programs, like video sharing.

Cons

  • The tool bar has so many options that I don't need.
  • Sometimes moving text around in boxes gets cumbersome
  • Back end of presentation isn't sleek looking

Likelihood to Recommend

I have been able to use it to provide context in presentations. But when I am needing quick options and don't have time to design slides I have to rely on PDFs and just share screen which isn't always ideal. I also wish that PPt had different slide aspect ratio options.
