Mitel MiCollab 8 is a great fit for customers who already have an existing Mitel UC environment and can have a cost effective approach for collaboration for team members compared to all the added cost(s) that come with Microsoft Teams and all of their hidden costs depending on features that are needed.

To me, Mitel MiCollab is best suited for Small Medium Business that already have an existing Mitel environment and can leverage their existing UC system to add a full blow collaboration solution at a cost effective price. Best for customer's that do not want to use up most of their yearly budget on Microsoft Teams.

Everyone in the company uses it. Our school teachers, tech helpdesk, not, HR etc. It is essential to our daily tasks, especially for the service reps that deal with patients, schools, teachers and doctors every day. It'd easy to setup either the physical phone or computer client for everyone's needs

For people who work in different departments, it's great to have it set up for certain queues, certain calls go to certain dept. It is very well versed to set up how you want. You. An use a physical phone or a donelpadable version you use on the computer with a headset.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Mitel MiCollab for end users when they are working from home due to the pandemic. It has become more mainstream for end-users to use MiCollab at work as well as they prefer it over the traditional desk phone. This has helped greatly due to our phone system and end-users getting calls from the operators.

Pros

Easy to use interface for non technical users.
Lots of options to setup for end users.
Headsets are comfortable and better than old handsets with desk phones. MiCollab allows users more comfortable phone calls.
Call quality is great.
Chat feature is great.

Cons

Would be nice to see phone numbers on Voicemail as it only lists time and internal phone numbers as external numbers are listed as unknown and not everyone leaves a callback number.
Allow users to change settings for audio and mic without having to be on an active call.
The sound sometimes is an issue where end users cannot hear the other person or vice versa. Maybe a specific driver would solve the issue?

Likelihood to Recommend

MiCollab is great for a large office to get users working from home and being able to use their home phone or cell phone like the desk phone at the office. This allows our live operators the ability to see if the end-user is on an active call before sending a new call to them. If you have a very small company of fewer than 10 people this might not be worth the investment as cell phones would work just as well.

[In my experience] it is incredibly obtuse for a non-phone system admin to get configured, and it anything but user-friendly. We love our Mitel phone system - it has all the features we need, but when we looked at using MiCollab for conferencing it became quickly obvious that the hosting providers like Zoom, GoTo, and others were far and away the better platforms.

Pros

Hosted in-house conferencing.

Cons

The web interface [felt] archaic.
The requirement to use your own lines limits the number of call-ins.
The resources of the server limit the hosting capacity.
[In my experience] the licensing was a pain.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is well suited for basic conferencing "online" (ie through a NAT-ed connection to your own network) if you have a few users who are familiar with the product and use it on a regular basis. It is less well-suited to dispersed companies with people in many locations (including remote telework employees) who need to meet and are not Mitel users.

Mitel MiCollab is being used across the entirety of my organization. The software has helped to increase the productivity and efficiency of those at my company as it provides a single application for voice, messaging, presence, audio conferencing, mobility and team collaboration; regardless of whether individuals are physically in the office, working from home, or on the road.

Pros

Mitel MiCollab is great for working remotely. The twinning feature to allow calls directed to my office phone to ring on my cell phone is extremely convenient.
The feature that allows you to set which device you want to ring (desk phone, PC, cell phone) is great as even when I am in the office, I prefer to just use my cell phone.
The customer support for the product is first-rate. They are always present and helpful when needed.

Cons

The setup for the twinning feature was a bit confusing and took me a while to successfully complete the task.
The UX, particularly on an older iPhone could be improved.
Overall, the product is rather sound, and I am pleased with my experience using it.

Likelihood to Recommend

Mitel MiCollab works great for organizations that require its employees to communicate on a consistent basis. It provides everything a company might need to communicate, collaborate, and share insights. The software would be much less appropriate for smaller companies with only a small number of employees working together in close quarters in addition to those where employees complete tasks with little to no team input.

Administrators at our district have been setup with the Micollab app on their phones to be able to contact families without showing their cell phone number. This has been crucial during the pandemic closures. In addition, our administrative staff have the app to be able to continue to receive phone calls even when the building is closed. Micollab has become an integral tool for us. We utilize both the iOS app and the web application.

Pros

Simple interface
Easy to setup
Straight forward settings

Cons

The swipe from left and right for menus on the iOS app is not intuitive for less tech savvy
Sometimes status gets stuck and you have to switch it multiple times
Wish it would not offer to call using your cell phone number

MiCollab is great for employees working remotely, on the go, or just wanting flexibility. No physical phone is required allowing employees to make calls from anywhere they can get access to a computer or device. Would highly recommend for staff to be setup before they need it to avoid having to learn it in a panic.

Our organization used to use Mitel MiCollab as a soft-phone, team collaboration solution, but we have switched to Microsoft Teams a couple years ago as our collaboration solution. MiCollab was used across the entire organization and the main purpose for it's use was to couple a user's phone with their laptop, instead of a hardwired desk phone. This enabled employees to have access to the company phones when working from home, or hot-desks. It supported a flexible work environment.

Pros

Easy access to company phone and voicemail, no matter where you are working
Instant messaging worked well for quick questions/conversations with colleagues
Screen share feature worked well

Cons

Initial configuration and set up was a bit painful
Mobile app was not useable. Lost connection and log-in too many times.
Lack of user customization

Likelihood to Recommend

Mitel MiCollab is fine for a softphone and collaboration solution. Instant messaging and screen sharing works well for team collaboration. MiCollab should suit any mid to large sized corporation looking to unify communications. The mobile app is not reliable, so if the company relies on cell phone use, then this might not be the best solution. If VoIP only, then MiCollab is servicable.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We set this product up approximately 5 years ago. The product works, BUT the product has not kept up with its competitors who have far surpassed this product's capabilities. My recommendation for anyone seriously considering this product for the collaboration tools is to evaluate competitors - who typically have more robust solutions. My recommendation to Mitel is to figure out who you want to be - a telecom provider or a collaboration customer. If you're trying to be the latter, you really need to be much more innovative and agile.

Pros

The phone system works well.

Cons

Collaboration tools have not kept pace with other competitors.
Speakerphone is sub-par with vast room for improvement.

With on-premise infrastructure, this product tends to run smoothly. We have yet to evaluate Mitel's cloud offerings, which appear to be good, but quite expensive.

As a phone system, the product does what it's supposed to do. As a collaboration tool, it has very basic functionality but that's about it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MiCollab is used as the real-time phone directory for our organization. It also allows staff to use the chat function, check their voicemails from within the app and toggle where their phone calls are routed to within the app. Using this tool saves staff time and effort when using their Mitel devices.

Pros

The directory search function.
Controlling of Mitel equipment (desk phone, softphone, mobile).

Cons

Not good integration with the ACD (call center agents). It cannot be used as a softphone only with ACD.
The chat function can be improved.
Setting up provisioning can only be pushed from server-side, especially on re-deployment or changes.

Mitel MiCollab is well suited to phone directory searches.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We had a Mitel phone system and replaced our online meetings with Mitel MiCollab to integrate the whole thing. It is used by the entire organization for internal meetings. We have a good number of remote employees and offices in other countries so we are required to do a considerable amount of collaborating via online meetings.

Pros

For a user, once you get everything set up, attendance is pretty seamless.
This provides easy access for meetings that involve only a call.
We use it also to share screens and information and it works well for this.

Cons

I found the set up to be less than intuitive. And, it involved a lot of steps. But, now I seem to be good to go.
I don't host many meetings at all but those who do present seem to have issues with recording from time to time.
Reviewing a recording can sometimes be a challenge because of the set up and the type of file involved. We have a lot of recordings and I end up watching a good number of them. I wish that part were easier.

Likelihood to Recommend

As I said, I find it to be fairly seamless when used for only a call. It works fairly well for calls where the user must share a screen. It seems to work less well for instances where a recording is needed. But, we do get the recordings and we are able to watch them.
