What is Oracle Dyn Email?

The Oracle Dyn Email Delivery service is an email delivery infrastructure which supports sending via an API or SMTP, and is built to reliably support bulk and transactional emails. The service also includes sender reputation management (via its RepMan service), send monitoring and problem tracking service, and analytics to optimize email campaigns.

Solid Performance: Oracle Dyn Email

Pros

  • Easy to setup by unique group and approved senders.
  • Quick reporting.
  • Easy to retrieve lists to allow us to maintain our lists.

Cons

  • Setup has some nuances you have to get used to. Documentation is not laid out intuitively.
  • Still not sure if we have it fully optimized, it works and works well, but wonder if it could be done a little better.

Return on Investment

  • Our emails are delivered faster from send to inbox than our previous provider. With big lists this is critical.

Great Out-of-the-Box Features, but Customizability is Limited.

Pros

  • Setting up Oracle Dyn Email is hassle-free and easy.
  • Customer Support responds quickly to our queries. They are usually able to remedy our problems and queries within the first email.
  • Insightful Analytics Post-Delivery. We are able to see whether or not users decided to open up our emails, and tweak our email headers accordingly.

Cons

  • Email reporting functionality is fairly basic. Would like to see more advanced analytics implemented in the future.
  • UI is outdated. The look of Oracle Dyn Email hasn't been updated for a while, and it isn't very appealing to use. In addition, navigating between options is fairly slow.
  • Integration with third-party email templating engines like Litmus would be nice to have.

Return on Investment

  • Quick implementation of Oracle Dyn Email into our workflow allowed our email campaigns to get started within a week.
  • From consistently analyzing the opening rates of emails, we have managed to perfect our email headers for maximum conversion.
  • Manageability of all our campaigns has increased, saving all the teams across our entire organization considerable amounts of time and resources.

We are very happy - don't plan on leaving anytime soon

  • Very good deliverability monitoring
  • Highly responsive support staff
  • Very easy to set up and integrate with other services.

Cons

  • I did have some difficulty diagnosing some of the issues I was having with one major ESP
  • The user interface can be slow and is outdated

Return on Investment

  • Our inbox placement has increased with this system.
  • We have been better able to find and fix deliverability issues with this system
  • The increase in deliverability has led to more opens and better message penetration for our clients.

Amazon Simple Email Service and Mailgun

Oracle + Dyn + Email = Great

Pros

  • API Automation - Really simple API so that we could set up automation quickly. Our development team really appreciated that.
  • Shared & Dedicated IPs - Depending upon sending volume there are benefits to both approaches and having that flexibility is nice.
  • Post Send Intel - After the send, having detailed metrics is critical and this platform does that particularly well.

Cons

  • No Webbula cloudHygiene - While Dyn's consultative Reputation Management services are nice, an integration or partnership with Webbula.com for their cloudHygiene services would provide helpful insight into the reputation problems in our list BEFORE we hit send.
  • More Frequent Checkins - I would have appreciate more frequent personal check-ins (not automated emails) from the Dyn crew.
  • More Reporting - While Oracle Dyn does a good job of reporting, more details for advanced users would be better.

Return on Investment

  • We did not have to spend a lot of time or resources to get our transaction email program up and running. This by far was the best positive impact.
  • Inbox placement rates were great due to the Oracle Dyn Email's awesome network.
  • The negative impact is that they are not partnered with an data quality platform like Webbula cloudHygiene to identify risky emails prior to the send.

It's a good option for mass e-mail delivery at a competitive price

Pros

  • Easy to set up API
  • Basic reporting available

Cons

  • Advanced reporting and troubleshooting
  • More user-friendly portal for power users (easy to switch between subaccounts without losing information, direct URLs, better reporting visualization)
  • Simplified support ticket submission process (less manual input, like my e-mail address, etc.)

Return on Investment

  • Setup is easy and requires little engineering investment.
  • Deliverability issues have little visibility. Troubleshooting takes quite some time.
  • Shared transactional IP pools reputation sometimes suffer from other users performance. Such situations, again, have very little transparency.
