Oracle Transportation Management Cloud - User Review

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Global shipment planning for ground, air, and ocean. It is used by all company business units for inbound and outbound. Also, suppliers have access to book their shipments if these are paid by the company. This is used for operational, day-to-day activities and also for logistics transportation reports by using Oracle's business intelligence module.

Pros

  • Order Management
  • Contract logistics
  • Shipment execution
  • Transportation Intelligence

Cons

  • User Interface
  • Mobile Interface
  • More free training materials

Likelihood to Recommend

Does a good job for automatization, bulk planning. This offers better chances for cost improvement and costs reduction or savings. Also the ability to have multiple service providers participating in a spot bid offers better chances to get an offer and a better cost. In addition, Parcel is not [Oracle Transportation Management Cloud]'s strongest point.

Comprehensive Transportation Management System!

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Oracle Transportation Management Cloud is the primary transportation management tool in the organization. It's used for planning all routes, freight and invoice management for order deliveries to customers. It brings transparency, accountability, and planning into freight cost of company's outbound and inbound freights. Also helps us manage calculate overheads better and provide delivered pricing built into our products.

Pros

  • Freight allocation
  • Source freight pricing

Cons

  • Back-order management
  • Rolling freight conditions from item level to header level

Likelihood to Recommend

Oracle Transportation Management Cloud works really well if flexibility at different planning levels is needed. The orders can be planned as early as upon order placement or as late as inventory allocation. It's fairly easy to stay in sync with an ERP system to ensure consistency in order/route/delivery statuses as well as allocate freight charges accurately to self invoice vendor freights for payments. If the cost breakdown is at individual SKU level for various temperature/storage conditions, or if charges need to be dynamically mapped to different general ledger accounts for cost allocation, the software provides limited options.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It is used for the logistics planning of the whole organization for the finished products. We use it to plan, execute and monitor the transportation of the one company now but are planning to implement it group-wide in the next year.

Pros

  • Planning
  • Routing
  • Settlements
  • Tendering

Cons

  • Mobile applications need to be worked upon
  • User interface could be improved
  • A very complex application for deployment compared to other cloud applications

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for planning a large number of transports, managing huge transporters, managing huge rates & c=volumes, and managing payments in no time since the proof of delivery is at your fingertips.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have a fertilizer company in Pakistan (Fatima Fertilizer Company). We produce fertilizer and sell it to our customers in all over the country. We recently implemented Oracle Transportation Management Cloud to manage our transportation planning, execution, and settlement. Module went live in February 2019 and since then we are proudly saying it is a good product to implement.

We have around 120 truck shipments on a daily basis that we plan and execute through this application. It provides us great functionalities to maintain track records and central repository of rates data for every transporter. It also reduces our planning time with automated planning parameters. Overall, it is a good product to have in our portfolio.

Pros

  • Planning of shipments through pre-defined parameters
  • Central rates repository
  • Automatic system cost calculations

Cons

  • Commitment allocation parameters need to be improved. Quantity-based commitments should be able to work as it is not available in the current application
  • Spot bidding award approval workflows need to be established to give users more flexibility
  • Reverse logistics area should be more improved in terms of automatic generation of alerts and the possibility of reverse load

Likelihood to Recommend

Well suited for the automatic planning of shipments through predefined parameters. It has shipments visibility across all steps and automatic cost calculations.
