We use Phrase Localization Platform as our translation tool. In the past we used GroupShare and have a lot of experience with a variety of systems. Phrase Localization Platform has some good features. The ease of use is complicated by poor service. It an acceptable solution but the price is not reflected in the product or service quality.
Pros
Term Bases
Analyses of consumed TMS
Graphs and charts of translations completed
Cons
Ease of use of translation features
Pulling terms from translation memories
Consistently pulling terms from Term Bases
Ticketing system and quality of response is poor
Likelihood to Recommend
The system is well suited if you also run Trados or any second system. As the system is very expensive and the use of MTUs is rather complicated to understand the best thing is to run most larger projects through Trados or any other CAT tool and then to import it. Large projects are expensive in Phrase Localization Platform so I would recommend it if you have small projects and have enough capacity to carefully check the terminology as the data pulled from the term base is inconsistent. The same applies to the find replace feature which can work great.
I usually use Memsource through my clients and I have not experienced any serious issue with the product so far. User-friendly, convenient, straightforward. Among my favourite CAT software.
Pros
Jumping between segments based on segment status.
Sharing platform.
Clear, essential interface with no unnecessary commands.
Suggest possible translations from TM during QA.
Cons
Performing the QA can be time-consuming because you need to reload frequently.
The projects overview homepage can be messy, especially when you have different pending projects for the same client.

Particularly helpful when you have huge files. I've always worked with TMs and TBs provided by clients, so I don't have experience creating them from scratch. But what I like the most about Memsource is that it has a user-friendly interface where you have all you need during translation.
I am a lecturer at Universidad del Rosario's diploma in Specialized translation. Memsource is part of the CAT tools module. My students love the program. They find it very useful and user-friendly. We translate general texts at the beginning of the module and technical text in the second half. The Academic Edition gives us all the features of the program, plus the option of assigning the PM role to some students. Therefore they can use it to prepare to be translators and project managers.
Pros
Create users with priorities
Clear analysis
Segmenting documents
Showing matches from TM and TB
QA
Cons
More management features like translators' availability or invoicing
Link to company website for quotes
OCR for PDF files

Well suited for technical texts, contracts, and general texts. Less appropriate as most cat tools for humanistic and artistic texts.
I have been using Memsource for over seven years and across multiple companies, both as a translator and as an editor/proofreader. From the very beginning, I've found the interface to be very intuitive and user-friendly and the entire user experience to be very smooth, with very robust translation memory and term base tools. The ability to transition seamlessly between web-based and desktop editors while collaborating with other translators/proofreaders/project managers is brilliant and a huge time-saver, especially compared to other (much more resource-intensive) solutions in the market. I honestly prefer working on Memsource's lean interface to, say, SDL Trados Studio's very bloated one.
Pros
Extremely intuitive user interface
Robust translation memory and term base tools
Seamless transition between web-based and desktop editors
Cons
The in-context preview feature can be erratic

I've specifically recommended Memsource to project managers looking for a cloud-based solution that enabled them to work with freelancers that didn't require those freelancers to have expensive licenses of their own. It's a very agile solution.
I work as a freelance translator and I need to be granted the license by the company so I do not have to spend money on a license while enjoying and experiencing the CAT tool. I use Memsource for translations and it is a very easy and user-friendly and quick tool. Since I started my translation career using Trados Studio and memoQ, it was a first for me to use a web-based tool that is so easy to use and that gives me a great overview.
Pros
User-friendly
Quick start
Can be used from all around the world
overview of the translation
Cons
The TB could be more visible
Not free if you don't receive a license from client

I think Memsource is well suited for translations and great for beginners since it is quick and easy to use. I can basically work from everywhere around the world, as long as I have an internet connection. This is a great plus! Another big advantage is the search function, which is quite easy to use. The User interface as a whole looks simple and clear. The Preview function is also very helpful since I can directly see how my translation will be presented and re-read it for mistakes. Out of all the CAT tools I have worked with (e. g. Trados Studio, memoQ), I like Memsource the most, since Memsource is just easier to use overall, allowing you to work faster and be more productive. Another benefit is that I can decline a job from the get-go directly on the web surface, without having to inform my client. Furthermore the Instant QA feature helps save time at the end of the translation.
I am a freelance translator and I have used many CAT-tools in my work over the past years. I have been using Memsource for many years now and it is the most intuitive, flexible, and complete of them. It's really helpful for my work, its many important features save a great deal of time.
Pros
Translation Memory always up-to-date and complete
It ensures consistency
Allows you to work on any device
Cons
Customisation of some functionalities might be improved, but they are really insignificant compared to the great pliability of the system
Likelihood to Recommend
Memsource is appropriate in any scenario where you would use a CAT.
I use Memsource daily for my largest clients as a freelance translator. It is easy to log in and get started right away. With the features of Accept and Complete, I always have a good view of what is New, To be Done, and Completed. As various clients of the same industry work with Memsource, the TM and the Search function are key for me to ensure high quality.
Pros
Easy to accept projects
Love the TM
Love the feature of following the changes
Search function is extremely helpful
QA ensures consistency and makes me aware of any inconsistencies
Cons
Adjusting the filters
Find and replace
A feature for deadlines would be helpful
Likelihood to Recommend
I really like Memsource because I have different clients using it and it is easy to switch between login and clients. I would prefer a better Preview option. Also, I need to observe character limits and would like to have an easy feature to do so, especially if a client splits long descriptions into various segments. I appreciate the Quality function to ensure consistency.
Memsource is probably the most convenient CAT I have ever used. It has all the functionalities I need, is intuitive, significantly speeds up the translation process, and facilitates collaboration with clients. I can honestly recommend it to both agencies and freelancers.
Pros
Terminology management
Speeding-up work
Facilitating collaboration
Easily accessible filter option
Cons
Customisation of the QA options might be improved, but I'm really nitpicking here...

Memsource is appropriate in any scenario where you would use a CAT.
We use Memsource on a daily basis. It's our preferred CAT tool. Memsource helps us a lot to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality during the translating and editing processes. It also saves time, which for us translators is vital. As it is very simple to use and user-friendly, we did not have problems learning how to use it. I would highly recommend those in the translation industry to consider implementing Memsource as their main tool.
Pros
Translation memory management
Segmentation
Search and replacement feature
Cons
Translators could have access to the source file in the tool.
Likelihood to Recommend
Memsource is perfect for long projects where a whole team of translators and revisers have to work together. It is very convenient as it saves time and ensures the good quality of the target text. It makes working with terminology really simple, as it is easy to add terms to the translation memory.

I use Memsource on a daily basis to translate and review translations from my colleagues (around 7k words per month). I am a freelancer, so I don't have experience in the project design part, but from my experience as a linguist, Memsource is very user-friendly, and the interface is very intuitive and easy to use.
Pros
The QA tool it provides is practical and always handy.
Instant QA feature can save time at the end of the process.
The possibility to decline a job directly from the platform instead of having to contact the client by email.
Cons
I find the "net rates" (weighted word count) somehow misleading; I have been confused into thinking the project was short, but then it was due to the fact that many similar segments had been counted as fewer words than real (due to their similarity).
I would like to have the "lock segments" feature more handy (I know the project creator does, but I, as a linguist sometimes need to forget about a few segments and focus on the rest).
I would like to be able to exclude 100% matches from the QA process (when I don't have to check those segments).
Likelihood to Recommend
I like Memsource because when I am not home and I don't have my laptop, I can borrow a computer, log in to my Memsource account and I'm ready to begin translating. I can even download the source files and check the TM and glossary there. It's not necessary to download the software and lose time on that.
