Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Planday is a great tool for employee time tracking & scheduling! It really helped me streamline the scheduling process and manage time off requests and availability of my my team. The time clock feature is straightforward and easy to navigate. Employees can clock in via their phones and view their schedule on the go, which helps with confusion and missed shifts! Overall a great product for small business owners to keep their team coordinated, timely and informed!

Planday is a wonderful first step in organizing team management, such as mass communication, scheduling, time off requests, and centralized timesheets. I used it for my retail business and found it to be extremely helpful in communication with my team and keeping track of everyone scheduling needs in one place. As we grew, I noticed a need to assign tasks, which would be very helpful for larger companies or businesses with daily tasks that need to assigned to specific team members, departments, or shifts.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Planday is used within our support department, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is used to maintain shift patterns for each of the teams within the department. We also use it to manage absences such as sick leave and annual leave. It gives a great overview of staffing for the department.

Pros

Provides an overview of staffing levels for each team, and the department as a whole.
The UI makes it very easy to get a snapshot view of the staffing levels for set time period.
Managing absences and arranging for shift swaps are also efficiently handled using Planday.

Cons

Has a rigid structure, so there is only one way to do any particular task.

Likelihood to Recommend

This is very well suited where there is a rotating support structure with larger teams involved. Our department as a whole has 16 full-time team members, with 4 people per team. The management of absences such as annual leave, alongside busy schedules or even seasonal downtime, is a breeze with Planday.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Planday is used across the whole of POLPO Ltd to manage all of our employee information, generate schedules for all staff and produce accurate hours worked which translate to payroll. This is for employees working in front and back of the house. The system is also used for all documentation storage, holiday scheduling and reporting, wage tracking, employee tracking in terms of recruitment and retention, and communicating, either within departments or across the whole company.

Pros

Employee profiling - easy to tailor to your requirements, set up and use
Schedule writing & reporting - templates are flexible, fairly simple to write & user friendly (in terms of managers & staff)
Communication function - easy to use, efficient

Cons

Holiday functionality - currently under review, new system launching early 2017 which will improve accuracy, calculate balances and deliver a more user friendly experience
Payroll reporting - data is not all relevant, could be more flexible
Schedule - could be more flexible to show employees consistently working across the group on one schedule

Likelihood to Recommend

I do recommend Planday to people, it of course depends on their needs/focuses. Planday is well suited to small groups who need to collate all of their staff/schedules, translate hours to pay and communicate to multiple departments. Planday used at its maximum can run multiple reports, look at wages vs. revenue, employee reports etc. The app has continued to improve since its inception and is user-friendly for staff schedules, updates, and communication.
