Tired of printer issues Give Vasion Print a try

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have replaced our Print Servers entirely with Vasion Print. A lot of the issues we've had in the past have completely vasnished and any tickets we used to get on printing issues have lessed by a very large precentage. Having the ability to deploy printers to devices and users has been wonderful as well.

Pros

  • Printer installs are simple and easy to manage
  • Drivers are easier to update and manage
  • Works for devices other than just Windows

Cons

  • Making mass changes on the site and not having to download a csv first and then upload would be handy, but isn't all that inconvenient.

Return on Investment

  • Helpdesk calls for printer problems was greatly reduced.
  • Time having to fix printer issues including driver problems was greatly reduced.
  • Being able to push printers based on device or user saves users time as well as IT.

Usability

Great for End Users and for IT Teams

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Vasion Print to manage all our printers across different offices and remote setups and it’s been especially useful for our billing and academic departments where fast and reliable printing matters. We also rely on it heavily for printer driver repositories and IP-based printer setups.

Pros

  • i don’t need to deal with print servers anymore, which saves time and hassle
  • employees can just set themselves up, which means fewer support tickets
  • usage tracking gave us real data to reassign printers smarter and cut waste

Cons

  • the updates are not very frequent, sometimes I have to wait longer than I’d expect for new improvements or bugfixes
  • the design of the interface is not very well arranged and many times some of the specific settings get lost in the crowd
  • Vasion Print support is slow to respond and mostly works over email, which isn’t great when you need things resolved fast

Return on Investment

  • we cut down device costs by replacing old inefficient printers based on usage data
  • there’s been a huge drop in IT time spent on printer support
  • toner and paper savings also added up thanks to smarter deployment

Great product for small businesses and MSPs!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We manage printers for 10 non-profit organizations in the area and use Vasion Print to update drivers/printers and deploy them to the end users. We can also set up default printing profiles through the Vasion Print dashboard to help our clients save on color toner costs. The client software is easily distributed and installed via shell scripts - we were able to connect 200+ users in 5 minutes with our first deployment, saving hours of install work or annoying Group Policy work.

Pros

  • Deployment of client software
  • Setting up printing profiles
  • Limit availability of printers based on groups/users
  • Driver management and updating is simple and centralized

Cons

  • Drivers have to be installed when on-network, which requires a site visit, VPN access, or installing on a remote computer.
  • Installing Windows/Mac drivers requires a Windows/Mac device
  • There's a hidden registry key that allows for switching between companies (very useful for MSPs) - had to reach out to support to find out about this.

Return on Investment

  • Once deployed, we have to do very little troubleshooting for printer problems.
  • Seamless transition for clients that doesn't require any on-premise servers (mapped printers), again less headaches for us.
  • It's an easy sell to clients - showing how service hours spent on printer issues drops to a minimum and they can see the cost savings

We use Vasion Print as a Print Management service for locations spanning multiple states and regions. This is especially helpful in the setup, maintaining and troubleshooting printer issues. I especially love that users can add printers across the organization if they travel to another location all with an interface that is understandable for the everyday user.

Pros

  • Manage all Printers and Queues
  • Can view and add users from Azure and Active Directory
  • Easily add the application and security to machines.

Cons

  • Error indication for users when jobs don't print.
  • More timely support for issues that are escalation.
  • Mobile app to manage issues.

Return on Investment

  • Calls have relegated to articles regarding how-tos regarding the product.
  • Server infrastructure has been reduced.
  • Self-service maintenance has increased.
