ProductVision is more powerful and flexible
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
As formulation software goes I think Product Vision is one of the best options. It can be customized with modules that make it useful for both laboratory development and manufacturing uses. My own experience is mostly with formulation in support of new product development, but PV integrates easily with production planning to bring new products to market.
Pros
- Raw material management
- Formula versioning
- formula comparison
Cons
- A more intuitive interface would be helpful
- Easier formula copying for new prototypes
- More area for version descriptions
Return on Investment
- The ease of developing and tracking new prototypes has a positive effect.
- Raw material pricing helps optimize raw material costs for new formulas.
- Couples with ERP it is easy to realize cost savings for new formulas i.e $250 K per year for version 2 vs. version 1.
