Business Problems Solved
QAComplete has been widely adopted as the company standard for all QA groups due to its cost-effectiveness compared to HP ALM. This software has proven to be effective in facilitating project work by accommodating changes in user requirements and providing centralized management of tests, requirements, and defects. Users have found that QAComplete enables them to create and maintain a common test library and regression suite for products developed by their company. It also aids in knowledge transfer to new employees, ensuring that important information is not lost when team members leave. Additionally, QA Automation Engineers have benefited from the integration with Test Complete software, which allows them to automate manual test scripts and easily track their time and progress. Moreover, QAComplete is used as the primary tool for tracking defects against product firmware, ensuring that no issues slip through the cracks. Despite some initial challenges with the user interface, users become more comfortable with QAComplete over time. However, some users have experienced performance issues with the software and have switched to other tools like SOAPUI. Overall, QAComplete has proven to be a valuable asset in managing requirements, creating tests, tracking defects, and automating testing processes for various companies.
I have now had the opportunity to use QAComplete on two of my projects. This specific piece of software is only being used by my team per request from our client who has been using it for the past few years. At first, QA Complete can be somewhat intimidating as the user interface isn't the easiest to navigate. However, as you spend a few days using the program, you begin to understand the flow and process, which makes it very usable.
Pros
Handles the administration and designation of QA hotfixes and bugs that are reported throughout multiple project groups.
Allows for a fairly easy way to communicate statuses of bugs.
Does a decent job of keeping team members engaged in the progress of said bugs.
Cons
The user interface can be somewhat perplexing and difficult to navigate at times.
Naming conventions aren't always succinct and additional training is needed by those who have more experience using the program.
A modern refresh of the UI would help keep the product from looking dated.

I think QAComplete is a great way to organize the literal hundreds of development bugs that are discovered throughout an agile-based project. Teams aren't always able to hotfix items on the fly and this tool provides a great repository and facility for storing and prioritizing those technical debt items that may get overlooked from sprint to sprint. It also let's everyone on the team get a clear understanding for project progress.
It is being used as a primary vehicle to track defects against product firmware. All major releases and minor builds are tested against test plans created in QAcomplete. Defects and feature requests are recorded and handled by the system. NOTHING slips through the cracks. We also use QAcomplete to manage requirements - then create tests to verify the requirements and test against them for validation.
Pros
Allows us to create individual tests then group them into comprehensive test plans.
Allows me to specify custom fields that match our product features to categorize both tests and defects.
Allows me to create a series of requirements then match tests against them for validation.
Cons
The recent changes to the defect management page are not user-friendly. When working to log defects in sequence it would be best if a default set of folders/tests could be used.
Likelihood to Recommend
Very well suited to requirements management, test suite creation and defect management. Not suited to project/task management.
