User-friendly ATS

Pros

  • It was a one stop tool for getting all the information of employees, both current and ex employees
  • We also used it as a rating tool for performance appraisal process

Cons

  • We used another software by name ICIMS for candidate maintenance, so we couldn't integrate both external candidates and employee information together
  • We wished we could check the outstanding PTO's and time card information for employees since for this purpose we used ADP instead.

Return on Investment

  • I wasn't a part of the purchase team and so cannot talk about any negative impact
  • It was minimally used as a ATS, and more of a employee database

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sage was our HRIS system for 9+ years. We switched to a new HRIS system within the last year but still use a few components of Sage HRMS until we fully make the switch. Sage HRMS was difficult to navigate, very slow to load and respond, and was very difficult to pull accurate reports. It became a headache for our entire HR and Payroll teams.

Pros

  • Ability to see history (like job history) easily at a glance.
  • Ability to make changes easily.
  • Organizing info in the employee record.

Cons

  • Sage HRMS is super slow to load and respond after you make a change. Reports also take forever to process.
  • Reporting needs to be made easier to understand.
  • Other Sage products that are supposed to connect to Sage HRMS don't connect well.

Most Important Features

  • Accurate payroll process
  • Employee record

Return on Investment

  • It helped when we were smaller and had less employees.
  • Manual processes became burdensome the bigger we grew, which is why we looked at another software.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Sage HRMS across the organization for HR management, payroll processing and tax return filings. It helps us to manage our employees at 10 different locations in multiple states. We use it for weekly, biweekly and monthly payroll. It has helped us streamline the process for filing taxes and has given our users the opportunity to use a self-service portal.

Pros

  • We use the product to process weekly, biweekly and monthly payroll. It is easy to use for each type.
  • It manage HR and payroll data for our employees at 10 different locations in multiple states.
  • It streamlines the process for filing taxes. Rather than having to print reports, reenter data and file returns on external sites, I can process returns with a couple clicks of the mouse.

Cons

  • We changed our chart of accounts. The system does not allow you to change the numbering format, so we had to start over with new databases.
  • The tax return portion of the software does not file local taxes. We would definitely like to see this functionality in the future.
  • The payroll piece does not handle complicated move up and move downs for union pay. This could definitely be improved upon.

Return on Investment

  • Sage HRMS allowed us to manage payroll in house.
  • It was disappointing that we had to use an outside vendor to file and pay our withholding tax.
  • Ultimately, the decision was made to outsource payroll after using HRMS for 3 years.
