What is Searchmetrics?

The Searchmetrics Suite automatically analyzes your website and guides you through the optimization of your keywords, topic clusters (onpage) and thus your content, as well as backlinks (off page) / social links, and finally the information architecture of your pages. Clients are provided with international ranking data regarding several search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Yandex and Baidu etc. Integration of Web Analytics, enriches data with traffic, conversions and user signals, such as bounce rate or time on site.

  • Content optimization, give one or more keywords to Searchmetrics and the webpage you want to rank for those keywords. Searchmetrics will check your page and compare it with other web pages that rank for your given keywords.
  • Competitor research, find out what keywords your competitors are ranking for.
  • Keyword research, what keywords are you using and which keywords could be new opportunities for your project.

Cons

  • Research into specific languages when working with multilingual countries
  • More keyword data in smaller countries

Return on Investment

  • It had a positive impact on the ROI. As the websites rank better the revenue raised.
  • Searchmetrics Suite is an expensive product, it is too expensive for small websites.

Great product, just don't get stuck paying for an extra year of service.

Pros

  • Large database of companies and search terms to compare with our site.
  • In the research section, we are able to do research on an unlimited number of sites/keywords
  • Paid and Organic search research all in one place to make research and performance comparisons a lot easier

Cons

  • A lot of competitor SEO research sites offer suggestions on how to improve SEO ranking or changes that could be made to page title or descriptions, but Searchmetrics is a research only product and does not offer suggestions.
  • Not sure if all of their contracts have an auto-renew, but ours did and we missed the 30-day notice to opt out and are now stuck in a new full year contract...
  • Adding mobile tracking requires a new contract and is an additional add-on

  • We've been able to see how our SEO changes have affected our site rankings and been able to make changes for the better
  • Searchmetrics has helped us to find keywords that we should be bidding on in PPC but weren't, hidden gems
  • We've been able to see how Google's various releases have helped/hurt our rankings and have been able to take action to improve rankings
