Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Shopify Plus is specifically built for e-commerce businesses like CVG. It offers a lot of customization, automation, and integrates seamlessly with our WMS. It helps maintain our product catalog, customer accounts, and storefront all in one place. It allows us to sell directly on our website and also on our social media platforms. It syncs with our WMS directly, so that all orders are synced, picked, packed, and shipped without any manual input. Shopify Flow is something that we use a lot in order to automate tasks like fraud checks, back-in-stock alerts, order tagging, or notifying the warehouse about VIP customers. It also provides access to advanced reporting, enabling us to analyze sales, performance, and trends in customer behavior.

Pros

Syncs directly with ShipBob WMS.
Shopify Scripts and the Script Editors allows us to tailor our checkout screen.
Gives us advanced sales reporting, showing trends, performance, year to year, and even projections.
Scalable for high volume, handles spikes in traffic without downtime.

Cons

Transaction fees if you don't use Shopify payments.
Running multiple brands or regions requires creating separate stores rather than having a true multi-storefront environment.
A lot of features require third-party apps (subscriptions, advanced search, loyalty programs for example).
International taxes and compliance tools require additional apps and some manual setup.

Definitely makes selling on multiple platforms easy, saving us time and effort.
Keeps all of our business in one place, saving us money on other apps to manage each aspect.
Automatically flags potential fraudulent orders, preventing us from accidentally shipping to a scam.
During our busiest months, we don't see any slowdowns, which allows us to go full throttle with all ads and marketing without worrying about whether or not the software can handle it.

I use Shopify Plus for the website of my brand- [...]. It;s not solving a business problem, but rather opening up a new channel for online sales directly through our website. I use Shopify Plus for all the content that goes into our websites. All the pages (PDPs, LPs, HPs).

Pros

Intuitive to edit content on pages without requiring a lot of coding.
Easy to setup discounts.
Easy to manage product information that will be displayed on the product page.
Easy to read the analytics and build reporting.

Cons

Allow discounts to stack on top of each other when needed.
Allow more personalization of content for specific customer groups without requiring backend coding.
Be less app based and have more internal features. Refer to stacking discounts example above.

Return on Investment

Positive impact with sales. Easly changing the price of a product to attract more customers leading to a higher conversion.
Budles. Being able to create a bundle at a special price to attract customers and sell more than one product also provided positive ROI.
Not negative but not as good as we would expect for a ROI will be on shipping costs. Because we rely on an app that costs us to apply the shipping costs we need (eg. cost per unit of product added rather than a flat rate costs) our ROI isn't as we expected on shipping.
