SignUpGenius allows us to easily track and manage participants in a wide variety of events and activities we host in our community. The options available to send post-sign up notice, view reports, and submit manual signups are all very helpful

Cons
We are currently using the free version and do not have any recommended changes. Everything works as promoted.

SignUpGenius is an excellent tool for managing registrations for a variety of activities and events. We use it for presentations, meetings, events, activities, educational sessions, fitness classes and more.
In my workplace, I am the primary user of SignUpGenius. As a youth pastor, I plan many events, often utilizing a variety of volunteers. SignUpGenius is an excellent tool for getting people to participate in these events. It helps us get a headcount of who might be coming to an event; it helps us meet the need of filling volunteer positions, and it helps me in my overall planning and preparations for many events.
Pros
Easy to implement.
Great free design options.
Provides you with a link to send your constituents when completed.
Cons
Occasionally difficult to edit a spreadsheet.
Sometimes confusing when setting up a spreadsheet with dates and time slots.
Would love even more free designs than what is offered.

If you are planning large events and you need an accurate headcount, the SignUpGenius is for you! Additionally, if you are trying to get a variety of volunteers to meet various needs, then you should really check out SignUpGenius! One specific way that we have used SignUpGenius is by getting the parents of our youth ministry students to bring refreshments to youth groups on Sunday mornings. We set up a SignUpGenius sign-up sheet where they can all sign up for various Sundays to bring refreshments, which really helps our students focus on Sundays.
I can't speak for the entire organization, as every instructor has free reign to manage their courses as they wish, but what I surmise is that many of my colleagues that use SignUpGenius use it in a similar fashion to me. I've found it to be an ideal way for students to sign themselves up for anything that requires a "first-come, first-served" approach, such as presentation time slots, choosing topics to research for an assignment, etc.
Pros
Easy to access. No login or registration is required for people to sign up for slots--just click the link and go.
No real technical expertise or knowledge is necessary to successfully use the tool.
Several different options/styles of signups are available.
Cons
The templates that are available (particularly for the free version) are visually clunky and dated-looking, with minimal options available for customization.
It can be challenging to try and figure out exactly what type of sign-up might work best for your needs--you may need to edit your choices a couple of times.
The "share" URLs for signups are long and clunky. No option to shorten them in-platform.
Likelihood to Recommend
SignUpGenius is a great option for teachers and instructors looking to find a digital way to have their students sign up for anything that involves "slots," whether those slots are temporal/time-based (e.g., presentation days/times that are pre-scheduled), or whether they are more abstract (e.g., a limited range of subjects or topics that students need to pick from). Its free version is ad-supported, does not require registration, and operates primarily using links within emails for authentication, so while it isn't necessarily "secure," it is perfect for situations where the honor system is enough.
We use SignUpGenius to sign up for certain events and workshops for us. This is a great way to get people to easily sign up and engage. It can track email addresses as well as send reminder emails so we don’t have to worry about it! It’s a very easy to use software and is user friendly.
Pros
Tracks emails and sign ups
Sends reminder emails
Up to date event changes
Cons
Improved user interface
Improved appearance
More features to send zoom links

[SignUpGenius is] very well suited for smaller organizations hosting bigger events and tracking attendance.
It’s a helpful tool for scheduling. As an organization, we used it when teachers were picking up their new laptops and COVID restricted the number of people who could come to school at one time. I’ve also used it for scheduling parent-teacher conferences and for scheduling student due dates/presentations
Pros
Customizable
Easy to sign up
Sends reminders
Cons
Scheduling is tedious
Website looks dated
Likelihood to Recommend
It’s helpful when a large number of people need to sign up for something during different time slots or different days. It’s also good to use outside of the organization, so you don’t have to worry about people who can’t access it. For a smaller group or people within an organization, there might be more efficient ways.
Currently we use SignUpGenius for our summer events that we offer to employees. We have a limited amount of slots available for the events, so we use this platform for people to sign up for each event. This is nice because it solves trying to track the data, and once an event is full, it does not allow anyone to continue to fill up a slot.
Pros
Great scheduler
Good for tracking interest for an event
Easy to keep track of limited signup slots
Cons
If we have several events--say 10--and we are only allowing people to sign up for five events, we have not figured out a way to limit someone from signing up for all 10 events since they are separate signups.

Great when you are trying to schedule specific time slots, for instance for reviews during the day or for meetings with our health coach. It's also great to allow a limited amount of people to sign up for an event and once full, no more people can sign up.
I have personally used SignUpGenius at two different businesses and part of a nonprofit organization as well. It's incredibly easy to use as a group and to share with people that have never used it before. The first time you create a SignUp, it can be a little tricky - however, after you get the hang of it, it's very easy. The free plan allows for a ton of customization, allowing the user to create the perfect sign up form for their needs. It addresses the problem of organizing meetings to fit everyone's schedules, signing up for volunteer shifts, etc.
Pros
Customization - you can create fully customized forms with as many or as few fields as you need
Sharing - when you're ready to share your SignUp, you can do it via a link or you can upload your contacts into SignUpGenius and email it out through their platform
Alerts - if you need to edit your form after you publish it, you can choose to send out alerts to people that have signed up for that shift
Cons
Building the first form - it would be nice if there was a feature that would walk you through how the form can be created. Pop up bubbles could help guide you through it.
Better designed templates - with the free version, the photos/colors are kind of ugly
User interface could also be designed better. It's kind of clunky in its current layout.
Likelihood to Recommend
I have recommended SignUpGenius be used by my coworkers and organization members. They have taken my advice and used it for organizing events and meetings and it has been well received and utilized. I think it is less appropriate when you don't have many people signing up - it wouldn't be worth the hassle of creating a form if you are only sharing it with a few people (in my opinion).
It is used to help support sign-ups for in-house contests, competition entries as well as for sign-ups for events (in order to get a slot for say the wellness fair activities, etc.). Also used for sign ups for volunteer charity opportunities.
Pros
Very easy to use, if you're signing up for a slot it's only a few simply clicks.
Keeps you in the know with email notifications/confirmation of your signup.
Lets you sync your time slot with your calendar of choice.
Cons
It's not aesthetically that great to look at, could use a virtual face-lift.
Does not seem to have a way to cancel/undo a scheduled sign-up task (at least it isn't easy to find).
Likelihood to Recommend
Well suited when just doing a basic task sign-up (like an appointment slot, or trying to get volunteers to sign up for tasks). It wouldn't be great for more detailed/complex tasks.

I actually use this for big client parties. My clients know that I don't have a huge team to put things together and they always volunteer to help. So I use it for them to sign up for how they want to help out and their kiddos rave that they have the absolute best of times with me!
Pros
Makes it very easy to know what you're signing up for.
Reminds you very well what you're doing and when and what you're bringing.
Very cute designs for you to choose from.
Let's you plan well into the future! Whew!
Cons
The first time I used this was for my daughter's preschool. I do remember feeling kind of confused about where I needed to go from the link they sent me. I clicked on the link and it sent me some where that I didn't feel was really understandable how I could sign up for things months out. But, I did figure it out, and I haven't had issues with it since.

It's actually really easy to use for photographers who are scheduling mini sessions or private school portrait sessions. The parents can select the time and date and pay their retainer right there. It'll send them reminders and you can be good to go. If you have a large studio with multiple photographers and assistants you can also schedule them around their availability so you have a photographer and assistant at each location or event you've scheduled portrait sessions.
I am a small business that does enrichment education for kids from preschool to middle school. Often I put on family events where I need to gather volunteers from all over my community. SignUpGenius was a blessing literally to do the task. It is familiar with schools-public and private as well as parents. It organizes everything for me including downloads and reminder emails. I love the alerts as I did a posting and was concerned which I didn't have to as SignUpGenius sends alerts. I filled a one-night event that evening with volunteers with a waitlist. I love that there is a link so I just send the link to my school contacts asking for volunteers; again this is a well-known resource for gathering volunteers.
Pros
It's free till you want the premium version.
Ease of use and organization incredible
Usable links to forward for emailing
Easy exporting and downloading of information to Excel
Alerts you of Activity
Cons
The customization of how you want to organize your sign-up may take some time.
The ads, but it's free so hard to complain.

SignUpGenius is a well-known source for volunteer gathering and promoting. Most know how to use it to sign-up. If they don't, it's easy to use/user friendly. I'm a super small biz so free resources I am grateful for to help me build it. When I had a family night, this was the resource that saved my sanity as I received all the volunteers I needed in one place with exporting, downloading and abilities to communicate easily.
