Skiff

Skiff provides a platform for a private encrypted workspace. This workspace can consist of decentralized notes, wikis and pages. Other capabilities include privacy for your team. Skiff lets teams write and edit together in real time and connect collaborators from anywhere in the world. Users can log in with Metamask or store data on the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS).

Skiff provides that no sensitive information (including documents, document titles, and messages) is ever stored, seen, or processed in plaintext by our servers. This is achieved by using end-to-end encryption as well as additional safeguards, including robust authentication methods, out-of-band key verification, and two-step verification.

Skiff’s threat model assumes that adversaries may access any data sent over a network to or from a client (even data sent over encrypted network connections). It also assumes that data stored with a cloud provider cannot be assumed to be confidential. As a result, we assume the server is “honest but curious:”

Skiff’s servers will not deliberately deny access to data, and will not serve compromised client applications over the web, but that data sent to Skiff or stored in Skiff databases may be compromised. For the most security conscious users, this second component of the threat model (maintaining honest client applications) is supported by using out-of-band public key verification with additional verification methods possible and in development.
