Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Web traffic inspection and CASB protection. Also block of personal tenants for email, file share services and cloud services. We use the client proxy and the web filtering on-prem gateway to control the different use cases for our own needs. It give us the ability to do SSL inspection for computers using the SCP.

SASE solution to move towards zero trust. The solution is pretty complete and allows you to implement a lot of use cases for securing the web traffic. However it can only inspect https and https against other solution out there in the market that allows you to inspect all the traffic on the clients.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it as our Webproxy to prorect the surf traffic from malware and integrate it with a third party threat emulation solution. We chose it, since we used to use the precssor product Webwasher and the competitors were not so much better to decide for a migration to a totally new product.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We were using Firewall based URL filtering options for our company but faced many challenge like throughput issue, false positives. Then we moved to McAfee Web Gateway and we are able to achieve our required use cases with it. It has the best filtering and security to the users even if they are working from out side of the office as our all traffic routed through it.

McAfee Web Gateway is best suited for all types of organizations if they wan to achieve the security for their users as it has the large intel database as well. The best part is its flexible hybrid deployment methods- it can be deployed on premises (hardware and virtual), in the cloud, or both for the high availability.

McAfee Web Gateway is an excellent web proxy, with a granular level of configuration capability. Is also a complex system, which requires a significant time investment to learn. It's not a simple turn-key solution. We appreciate the support of the McAfee technicians. In conclusion, high-performance web security through an on-premises appliance.

Very good pre-defined policies.

Cons

Excellent high-performance web security.
Incredibly efficient application finding any threat.
The ransomware simulator does a pretty good job.
Email protection, malware, spyware, DDOS, BOT-ing, website filtering, spam filtering, and much more.

Provides a lot of general protection for my business PC, including spam and email filtering, as well as email protection. Internet protection at real-time is very effective. There is nothing negative I can say about McAfee Web Gateway. It's the best security software ever for small and big companies. Buy with trust.

Mcafee Web Gateway is used across our organization for web security. It enforces policies related to Internet access such as appropriate use, malware inspection and prevention of unwanted downloads.

Pros

Very flexible rule configuration for tiered access. With AD integration, easily allow Internet access based on groups.
SSL inspection of web content. URL categories can be exempted from inspection such as financial or health.
Customizable block pages. Allows you to place your policy statement on the block page as well as explanations for why a page is blocked.

Cons

Sometimes rule tracing is difficult to pinpoint errors.
HTML interface is in early stages. Both Java and HTML are available.

Likelihood to Recommend

Web Gateway is well suited for medium to large enterprises. It is very flexible and customizable, but along with this comes some complexity.
