Smoothwall UTM brought reliability to some of our branches where the main objective was to protect the network from external intruders, DDoS attacks, malware and allow the use of VPN remote to connect remote workers. The great advantage of this solution is a bundle containing all the necessary features to protect the network and at a much more affordable price. Among other essential features that we use is the control of URL browsing by proxy and filtering of prohibited and bandwidth consuming applications. The solution arrived to solve the problems of branches that needed security and features to offer remote work at affordable prices.

After a year of using the Smoothwall UTM Firewall solution, we can say that it is a secure solution, it offers a graphical interface for configuration and access with easy understanding and usability, the security features and blocking of url and applications work very well and also protects against malware and ransomware. For small and even intermediate scenarios I recommend it, but not for very large scenarios. Licenses can be renewed and are priced very well compared to competitors.

This system is being used in my company to have a firewall that helps me to prevent intruders from entering my network and doing damage to the servers. This application also helps to administer my network by prohibiting users from using unwanted pages, to prevent users from downloading files that contain malware and may be harmful to the company's network.

This system is very useful for companies of few resources and for novice users with small and domestic networks. On the other hand, for a large company where you have a lot of network equipment connected, it's possible that the equipment collapses and does not work well with this service.
