Remote Work with SonicWall SMA.

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use SonicWall Secure Mobile Access (SMA) for remote work when I am not going into the office. It is compatible with smart devices, including cellphones, tablets, as well as laptops. SonicWall Secure Mobile Access is great because we are able to complete our work and access information without worrying about HIPAA-sensitive data breaches.

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Secure connections.
  • Remote mobile access.

Cons

  • Easier to lean interface.
  • Faster technical support.
  • Lower cost to implement.

Likelihood to Recommend

SonicWall Secure Mobile Access (SMA) is well suited as a solution for VPN on your phone. It allows our agency's employees to access our data and system from almost any device at any time. SonicWall Secure Mobile Access (SMA) is less appropriate if you need to implement the product in a very short time frame, as it took longer than expected for rollout to staff.

SonicWall SMA for a Hybrid Workforce

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this in our hybrid working environment to secure remote access. It is used to provide a more controlled and safe VPN experience.

Pros

  • Secure remote access
  • Control what access users can have
  • Protect from harmful sites and downloads

Cons

  • Ease of use (for end users) is pretty good but could be better.
  • Reporting could be easier to locate and more clear.
  • HA has had some problems working properly.

Likelihood to Recommend

The SMA is pretty suited to controlling and protecting users and their remote access. We've caught spoofers before due to Geo-location services. These spoofers were attempting to get into the environment by trying to get a user to send the MFA prompt to them when the user themselves were not trying to connect at the time.

Sonicwall SMA for implementing work from home for users in difficult times

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Sonicwall SMA for our management staff who wants to work from outside the office. They are able to connect to head office resources very effectively. For management staff, we have not enabled additional security features like Multi-factor auth or certificate-based auth, but SMA has proved to be very stable and cost-effective to serve the purpose.

Pros

  • Users can now work from home effectively
  • You can publish or share resources with clients and business related personals securely.
  • Has integrated multi factor auth options
  • User based licenses helped us get pay only for our requirement

Cons

  • SMA is limited to only SSL VPN , it should have support for hybrid VPN (SSL + IPSEC)
  • There are different specs and features for Enterprise and SMB. Features should be same for all devices.
  • It does not have URL filtering, content filtering, AV/IPS and Threat Prevention features. For achieving the same, we need to deploy another product like firewall or proxy.

Likelihood to Recommend

Sonicwall SMA is a cost-effective solution, with pay as per your need service, ranging from 5 users to unlimited. SMA can be deployed on VM as well as it can be appliance-based that can be directly deployed in your environment on the go. Also, you can enable MFA for implementing a more secure way the users connect back to your network.
