We use Synoptix as a report writer. All end users who need access to our ERP data use Synoptix to view said data. Our ERP does not have quality reports built in and Synoptix allows us to build custom reports that address our reporting needs.

Synoptix has been great for us to allow end users access to the data and information they need to make informed decisions without letting them have full access to all ERP functions. It has also been very easy to create custom reports that meet our needs. It is also nimble enough to create quick reports that are needed with a small turnaround.
I use it as a financial tool. My current operating system doesn't show the accounts on the screen and I use Synotpix to run totals. I also use Synoptix to see if accounts are valid and if I am needing to create new accounts. I am learning how to prepare the financial statements in it as well.

The lag time and sometimes not saving are my only down sides. There are lots of time saving by being able to rerun information quickly month after month once report is set up.
I use it for analyzing budget data. I have some preset reports that I can easily modify for whatever accounts I want to quickly review. I like the fact that I can drill down to see the data behind the reported numbers. I would like to use it for more robust reporting and graphing. I just haven't gotten there yet. It is fairly intuitive, but does not work exactly like Excel. I appreciate that they continue to improve the functionality.

It is excellent if set up well, and users are well trained on how to use it as it is not very user-friendly. But to achieve that, you have to go through the hell of a setup. Support is not knowledgeable in some areas of the software, it is tough to set up and install, and when presented by salespeople, it is all great, but you need to invest a lot to pay it off.

Synoptix is currently our main system for building and reporting financial data. We have created nearly all of our internal and external financial reports using their system and scheduler to push reports to individual departments in HTML or CSV formats.

The ability to create reporting that allows us to review in-depth financial review by drilling down into accounts to find transnational data easily.
Easily maintained and monitored with simple upgrade installations and end point installation.
Great knowledge base for review and trouble-shooting.

End point installations are a little confusing for some of our support staff. There's no direct installation wizard.

Synoptix is a great tool for anyone who is running the financials manually from their ERP system and then manipulating them into the proper format. This tool can take hours (if not days) of work and turn it into a 5 minute job. I have also found a lot of value from running analysis reports. The ability to drill into the system to see individual transactions is incredibly valuable. While there are occasionally bugs with the system, the customer service team at Synoptix is very responsive and always ready to help. I enjoy working with them and would buy the software again.
