We use Teradata Vantage to connect from different sources, to analyze data and create business models. Therefore, it is an important contributor to our analytical modeling process. To generate consistent information for our users we have different stages before putting our models in production and ready to be use: development, testing and production.

En la aplicacion de Teradata Vantage, la mayoría de las veces se cortaba la conexión y luego para restablecerla se tildaba y luego de eso perdía todo los scripts que no llegue a guardar. In the Teradata Vantage application, most of the time the connection would drop and then in order to restore it, I would have to check something and after that, I would lose all the scripts that I didn't manage to save.

In my organization, Teradata Vantage is use as a DataWarehouse where we storage the data from all ours business in order to be accessible for all users to make decision with data. Teradata Vantage is also the database motor for our BI tool, that is use by different teams to access the information. In mac users, we have a problem with the app, it needs to be restart twice a week at least, losing all the query editors and results set.

Teradata Vantage is the main on-premise data storage solution used across the company. We rely on it to build and mantain data products and processes that serve multiple business units. As a data scientist , I work closely with Teradata Vantage to develop and deploy various ETL processes and data pipelines, especially for risk management and analytical purposes. It plays a critical role in supporting data-driven decision making and ensuring realiable access to histoircal and operational data.

Pros

Handle large-scale and complex SQL queries.
You can have scheduled ETLs running while also querying interactively.
It integrates really well with Python, facilitating orchestration and different automations.

Cons

Documentation is clumsy, and often misses hands-on examples
For beginners, it might have a steep learning curve.
Teradata Vantage Studio UI seems a little bit outdated.

Teradata Vantage is well suited for large scale ETL pipelines like the ones we developed for anti money laundering risk matrices. It handles heavy joins, aggregations, and transformations on transactional data efficiently. We generate alert variables, adjust for inflation, and monitor establishments monthly with it, all integrated with Python and Control-M for a centralised automation across the company. For less appropriate, I would say that heavy resource demands might slow down experimentation for iterative work.

We use Teradata Vantage Cloud to model the business processes that are then queried through a Business Intelligence tool.
